Does it feel improved enough or does it feel the same?

My last reply was lost.
Lizaanj is cool, mainly the resource operation , IMO.
In the weekend, when I have a moment, I'll try to make a version of your destroyer and hand in to you. I feel that long line of the original destroyer a bit boring, so I'll try to level down the first(front) turret. But I'm not criticizing, just imagining. I'm not sure if it is a good idea, let us see...

Pouk Dec 27 2012, 7:06am replied:

The destroyer is still very much WIP. The only reason the front turret is not 60% smaller (or a twin flak turret) is that I'm experiencing some breaking problems with export form CfHodEd. The ship doesn't even have goblins yet. What you have here is a WIP shot.
The whole purpose of the Light Destroyer's existence is (well apart from eventually having a new lighter but weaponized facility for Supercarrier) is to get me back, to enjoy the ship making and to gain some momentum. Adjustments by someone else would defy the purpose.

Chimas Dec 27 2012, 7:21am replied:

It's not adjustment, but I get it, I agree with you.
As a feedback, it's looking good. I'm gonna play it later.

So you want to know if things feel different? It feels like we just skipped two full versions of content...

And there are some great new things. The UI-improvements for example as well as the new options for skirmish. I hope some other modders take notice of these things. The Lizaanj have some really cool bricks of war and i really like the changes to the Nassar. Their eerily chatter and the warpaint-like team color make them really look like some outlandish alien tribe who has sworn to fight for you.

The new Hiigaran light destroyers continue to make vanilla Homeworld 2 look like an incomplete game and now i also lost track of what i just wanted to write.
There's just to much on every corner to say about. So in short form, yeah, it feels different and even more like a great enhancement to a great game.

I probably can't add new things on the negative side. There are, as you said, some unfinished things and rough edges but the performance was actually better (thx for the naming options) than before. Oh, and i had a few crashes on the hiigaran side as well.

Alright, that sounds actually way better and more optimistic than I expected. As I said for me it's extremely hard to recognize the level of progress, so thanks.
Except for the crashing, that's not good at all. Was it in a normal skirmish?

Temeter Dec 27 2012, 7:51pm says:

NP, it is good work. Not exactly an avalanche of new content, but it adds at the right points. That's, at least in my opinion, one of the strong points of your work.

Crashes were in normal skirmish, in 1st game on jadeth as higaaran. They were rare, but repeatedly. I didn't have problems in the next game as vaygr.
Noteworthy might be that the progenitor units where activated in the 1st game and i tried to built two dread's, but after the construction no ships appeared. The crashes occured a bit later, though.
Idk if relevant, I played on german and had some of the nice price tags instead of unit names and descriptions.

It really might be the Progenitors, I need to check that. Thanks.
Ah sorry, the German locale isn't updated. You can fix it yourself if you don't have a problem with shifting few files a bit. Simply copy the missing text from English locale folder (specificaly buildresearch.ucs file, open in notepad) into the German one. I'll fix it the next time, hopefully even find someone to translate the rest of the text.

I like the look of it so far Pouk, it looks sleek, like it's faster than the original DD.
Like a modernized version.
And if it gets you back into enjoying modding then go for it, don't worry about!

Yes it is faster and the design was meant to reflect that.

I couldn't figure out why the destroyer didn't look right. I assumed the bulge on the bottom was a platform module, but something else didn't seem right. I was probably sleepy, because it wasn't until I reached "-WIP Light Destroyer" that I realized what was going on.

My only complaint is the aft turret looks like it'd interfere with the "inner workings" of the engines.

Hmm I never quite ensure I'm not doing that. My worst case are the Artillery Frigates.
The engine is big and wide, it might be alright, but you're right I should keep those things in mind.

You guys are so racist against zombies, I'm deeply dissapointed.

I wouldn't say "cheaper" is the main factor here. I'd personally defend myself with a gun over a water pistol any day and not really because it's cheaper.

Your first sentence reminds me of a movie coming out in the US soon. Warm Bodies. The plot revolves around a zombie that begins to act human again.

Another Christmas preview of REARM mod is here for download:
Uloz.to (yellow "stahnout" button)

Keep in mind that it is in fact a work in progress preview and that the mod has been on hold for a quite a long time. This version contains placeholder and WIP ships (as the one on the picture), so if you don't like your mod in a rough state, you better wait for another version (which shouldn't actually take year and a half this time).

The way I always describe the current version is that nothing that specific happened, yet those "unspecific" changes made the mod more confortable to play and subsequently made the previous version practically unplayable for me. See for yourself. I've completely lost perspective on how much different this version really is, so feel free to report wheter it's practically the same thing or wheter things actually changed.

Brief changelog:
-Research Station/Ship system of additional upgrades
-improved UI spacing
-a new Lizaanj ally race by JKberna
-better class restrictions
-flagship Battlecruisers can replace Motherships
-Motherships have innate hyperdrive
-WIP Light Destroyer
-new subsystems
-Vaygr upgrades divided from two levels into smaller step three levels

-either rename the new .big file using the name of the old one, or edit the shortcut so it loads a version called 0.0.3d (not C).
-replace the old locale folder.
