R.E.A.R.M. - "Rearmament Expansion And Redesign Mod" is an unofficial Homeworld 2 expansion and it adds number of new interesting and various units.
Looks like I've got this thing from Baroness, it's apparently made by several people -model by Axel, textures by Oni and completed by people from Complex team.
It was given to me and I really like it, so you'll see it in the mod pretty soon. Bad thing is that it slightly moves the release date, but when you'll get it, you'll have not only Hiigaran Modular Destroyer, but also this thing for Vaygr, so I hope the waiting will be worth it.
It is the very first model in my mod made by someone else. I don't generally use other peoples models, so this is a rare situation and first of its kind, but the model is very well made and the design is fitting, so I have no reason not to use it. But I need to make LODs first, engine glows, nav. lights, icon, set a weapons for it, make the engine innate subsystem and maybe something else I don't know about yet.

What are the weapons? Can only see 2 double fusion rocket launchers.
You see the black hole in the middle of the red nose? Big pulse laser is going to shoot from there, one of the trinity cannon battery, but weaker.
That means that he is total unprotected against smaller ships, right?
Second question of mine is, is the (tri) cannon a targettable subsystem?
Well, it wasn't with the Battlecruiser, so if he were to make it targetable, then he'd have to change the Battlecruiser. And that isn't Pouk's style; he doesn't want to change existing units in any way if he can help it, save maybe weapons on the motherships. That seems to be his only exception so far.

I would like to discuss this (should I start the thread?). Do you think that me not changing the original stuff is a bad thing? That I'm overprotective about the original units? You don't agree with the corvette thing, I can imagine it, but do you have something else?
I believe that not changing the Homeworld units is a good thing about this mod and the difference from others, the difference people like me are looking for but not getting.
But maybe I am overprotective and maybe I'm overlooking some good ideas because of it.
Let's talk about it. I'm not going to change much (in the current state almost nothing), but I may see the things differently if you make some good examples.
The cannon thing. Firstly I want to say that it's not laser. I've said laser, but now I say (plasma) pulse cannon and Pulse Destroyer. It was because I was keeping a (bad) Homeworld naming system. (but I understand why they did it: The Laser corvette is even more different name than the Pulsar gunship.)
Finally the subsystem issue: Not necessary. It's not the same thing like on the BC. BC has just tones of steel around the Trinity cannon and even if you want to target it, you could aim only at the barrels, just a tip of the iceberg. But this DD is basically a flying cannon (I'll make it really big on the icon, you'll see).
I just don't know if I want to make it targetable. As a Vaygr player you would hate it, as a Hiigaran player you would make the Vaygr to hate it even more. I have to say that I'm more Vaygr than Hiigaran. But I'm not rejecting the idea, I'll just think about it.

Since it's a 'point & shoot' weapon (like the BC), as long as the Engines are a Target-able/Destroyable subsystem, taking them out renders the main cannon fairly useless (like the BC).
Same problem, same solution?
I'm assuming this Destroyer won't have the usual Destroyers Broadside Behavior?
Kind of a shame considering 'broadsiding' was a distinctive Destroyer thing.
Makes me think this should be in a new Ship Class, slightly larger than Destroyer; Cruiser? Lance Cruiser? Pulse Cannon Cruiser?

I understand, but to keep it clear it will still be just destroyer.
In-game, as a name; Pulse Destroyer works well.

Very nice looking ship. My congradulations to Axel, Oni, Baroness, and everyone else who worked on it.
My only suggested change to it for this mod would be to mess with the team colors a little so that some of the grey areas have primary and secondary colors. Looking at it from a distance, right now it looks like it is gray, with a red nose, and a divided white line down the middle of the ship. Not enough team coloration in other words.
Can we get a back (aft, rear, arse) shot in the next picture you plan to upload plz?
I love it, this is what I've always wanted, a destroyer/battlecruiser class ship. Also, mabey you should make the window lights green, jest a suggestion.
Proper Light Cruisers will come later.

did you see the vaygrs defense cruiser in the FX mod? give the higgy light crusers and give the vaygr a ship to rivel the FXs one.

I think there is more mind-blowing originality in your Supercarrier and the Arty Frigates than in this Desty.
Don't get me wrong, I admire Baroness' models a lot, and Axel and Oni too, but I don't think anyone has come up with an idea like yours, or executed it so professionally, in any other mod I've seen.
This Destroyers pedigree is evident, the engine unit (inverted Y shape) is the same as the Trade Convoy (or whatever it was called) from Complex. I would have recognized it without your description.
This introduces a different Destroyer-class Engine shape that could be great, or it could be a jarring stand-out that doesn't fit with the rest of the 'look' of your mod. Time will tell.
I still like it, just hope it fits with your stuff.

And I think that the Y shaped engine is just fine. Maybe it's not seen elsewhere in the vanilla Homeworld, but it fits to my trinity cannon philosophy: In the BC icon it takes a lot of room, so I can imagine that it took almost the full lengh of the DD, so the engines and other ship systems had to be moved to sides.
Well, you have to admit, its a very neat looking ship. BUT! I think the look of your vagyr ships just can't be beat. :) In either case of your's or someone else's work, I very much appreciate the quality of work put into it. Just keep up the amazing work, and the compliments will come rolling in on release date! :D Cheers, mate!
Yeah I really like it, it's a great ship. Hey and it's a good thing, it tells me to finally make some bigger and better ship again. Something detailed and nice. Which tells you you that 0.0.4 (not the version I'm about to release, it's just 0.0.3b) will be something interresting.

Looks great! Perhaps you can kind of give it a jaw effect though on the front half and bring the bottom of the ship below the engines in that frontal. It seems very flat on the bottom in comparison to other vaygr ships.
