R.E.A.R.M. - "Rearmament Expansion And Redesign Mod" is an unofficial Homeworld 2 expansion and it adds number of new interesting and various units.
Oooh nice :D
Nice man. How did you go about adding the noise to the hull? Its something I want to do with my remastering as well. Also what texture size did you go with? Same poly count?
It's much simplier than that (not easier, just simplier). I really just exported the Remastered textures and put them together the same way I did on the old MBC. They're both made out of small patches, lines and details from the original Homeworld ships. To be precise 556 layers of them, but still based on the Homeworld ships.
But say you have your own textures and you want just the noise. You can find a piece of texture on the Remastered ship that is relatively flat and then turn it into a big wallpaper using Photoshop's Clone Stamp.
Texture size is 4096 x 4096 px.
Polycount is 4238. The original MBC has 1278.
556 layers is in your pre-texture right? Or are you saying the GBX textures have all these layers?
Yeah, my Photoshop file of this ship, not GBX textures, these are flat.
Waiting for the release ^^
I followed this on the official forums.. 1 Ship in approximately 2 months. Really good yet disturbing at this rate you will sit on this the next several years till each ship is remastered...
Never the less epic work of course and I hope it just wont take that long at all for your sake for all our sakes. :)
Come on, there's life (sort of), other actual work, plus this is a big ship, in HD with 4K textures and normal maps. It's also my first ship, I mean really the very first test, learning new process as I go.
Don't get fooled by the speed of other HWRM mods showing you clay renders. Model a new ship takes you half a day if you're slow. Textures, materials, dockpaths, repair points, navlihghts, weapon hardpoints and weapon balance, subsystems, AI and building and upgrades, ship icon, engine glows, animations, that's where the real work is. But mostly in textures.
