R.E.A.R.M. - "Rearmament Expansion And Redesign Mod" is an unofficial Homeworld 2 expansion and it adds number of new interesting and various units.
Ion Destroyer taking a beating. I'm guessing the AI recognized it had a defense field module, because they would always attack this ship first.
Why purple and green? Because I like color in my games, and I'm not afraid to use all colors in the spectrum. -Best viewed in max size
There Pouk, I finally corrected and posted it ^_^
--It's been sitting on my desktop all photoshopped and ready for a few days now... it just needed to have one tweak before posting. Lazy me ¬_¬
Anyway, happy new years to you all,
H_D
You should put kamakazie in REARM so the A.I can be "FOR ACHMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" *Rams the Ion Destroyer*
You can do kamikaze with capital ships right now in the christmas preview (meaning bringing them close enough to the enemy, then commit a self destruction), but kamikaze with fighters is pretty problematic.
It's actually really easy to do that with the destroyers - make a modular destroyer, and build nothing on it. Since it has no weapons, it just flies as close as possible to an enemy when you order it to attack. Adding the engines module might help, but don't be like me and forget to turn explosion damage on. ;-)
That's true and I've never thought of it, unarmed MDDs really are good suicide bombers. But pretty expensive ones.
expensive but fun
destroyers are meant to be destroyed
achmed IS AWSOME!!!!!! SILENCE.... I KILL YOU!!!!!
Thank you for finally uploading it, it's really a nice picture.
bitchin :)
Still my fav HW2 mod by far. Looking forward to the next release!
In Complex there is that "Juggernaut" ship which has a big bomb on board for decimating surrounding ships, but also can ram capital ships. I had a lot of fun using that baby.
Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out how they got the Juggernaut to ram enemy ships.
I didn't even know you could ram ships, I just got it as close to enemies and detonated it, or let a swarm of their fighters take it out, that's the best. "Let's see, you have 50 fighters, annnnnnnd gone. Congrats, idiot AI"
I've read somewhere on the Complex forum that it is possible to accidentally ram even a normal capital ships.
You can use other capital ships to ram in complex such as the Vortex. They fly so fast in an orbit so eventually they'll run into a destroyer and lose some of its hull to destroy the destroyer.
so how much will it cost?
What do you mean?
well in the game how much the destroyer will cost?
The destroyer costs 1500RU. But the weapons are expensive, you can even exceed 3500RU of total cost with certain weapons.
..Hmmm; 'explosion-damage-on' kamikaze-ramming with a 'blank' Cloaked Destroyer could get nasty! :D
Yeah it could, but we don't have the Cloked Destroyers.
For that very reason?
I'm simply planning the Hi-tech Cloaked DD for Hiigaran and Cloaked DD for Vaygr.
I just meant if/when you decide to do Cloaked DD's, and thinking out loud really. :)
Jesus I said "Hi-tech Cloaked DD for Hiigarans" while I meant Hi-tech stealth. Stealth as a sensor distortion electronic warfare Destroyer, not Cloaked.
Ha, cheers for the reminder of what you're planning. :)
friendly fire isnt fun though. so fairly decent sized fleets attacking is really a nightmare with vaygr since the missle launchers on their ships usually fire the missles up first especialy when there are different engagement ranges being used and the BC's are behind everything else quite a few times ive lost more ships to friendly fire then to the enemy or if one of my big ships goes up it takes a bunch of frigates with it. thats annoying too
You can simply turn the explosion damage off. There's no feature in REARM that could not be turned off, because the mod is allowing you to be as close to the original game as possible.
If you still want the explosion damage being applied only at enemy ships, then:
-1.) From what I saw in the script I don't think it's even possible.
-2.) I don't agree it should be done. It adds an interesting gameplay element. You can target the enemy ships in tight clusters in purpose and you are forced to split your damaged ships from the rest of your force. I really like each of thos events.
