R.E.A.R.M. - "Rearmament Expansion And Redesign Mod" is an unofficial Homeworld 2 expansion and it adds number of new interesting and various units.
I'm actually starting to like the anti-capital artillery flaks as they are. Of course it most of the time looks like a black smoke, it's nothing but oversized default flak, but there are some moments when it really looks nice.
Picture shows the same situation from the perspective of the target (or prey) and from the attacking destroyer.
The weapon doesn't do that much damage, it's almost two times slower to kill the target than with the regular destroyer, but it is a long range weapon and it has a large damage radius, so it's not only damaging the ship together with all its subsystems, but also groups of ships too close together. It simply damage everything in the explosion area. (and that makes it by far the most perfect weapon for wiping out the enemy resource operations.)
So I should park this baby behind the front line and enemies can do nothing but cry in frustration? :P
Yeah, more or less. I want Vaygr to be the race with better artillery, so this hasn't as long range as the Vaygr have, but 9Km is still more than enough.

Awesome! This gives me an idea, how much a pack of upgrade techs and modules for turrets would be( like 3 barrel massguns, flakcannons for bs etc.)
Well, I have a lot of weapons already (6 different turrets and launchers for destroyer plus another 3 to the front instead of torpedos). There aren't that many limitations if you want it to be just another subsystem, but it's not the same thing if you want to upgrade the existing weapon, because there is just one level (for so called special attack, like the improved plasma bombs, improved torpedos, EMP and maybe something else we already know).
But I don't want to make way too much of them, so particullary for destroyer I'm not planning anything else. Maybe one if it's a good idea, but I think it's enough.

Okay, but what will the Vayger feature?
I would like not to see any "rebuilds" of sajuuk etc. (like in the Complex mod, that destroyed the whole mod)
The Taidan BS therefore would be cool. Also, the Carriers Armor is a cool feature, but imO. its better if you just put up an assault carier version with a torpedos instead of the production slot, and the features of armor and some (2-4) cannons, like the ones from the destroyers of the vayger or (if you take the 4 canon version) smaller like the ones from your assault corvette or the attack frig.
You really don't have to worry about me doing such stupid thing as rebuilding Sajuuk.
And I didn't touch carriers yet. there'll be some new ships and upgrades as in any other category.

I was just thinking about the fact that bigger fleets would need something bigger than a support fregate, that also has the armor and the arms to stand on the first or second line of battle, while reparing fighters and corvettes. Therefore, an assault carrier with rockets instead an production slot would be cool as you still can dock stuf on the bay beneath, and recycle scrap, what would fit the vaygar backgrund very well. But still, it'S your mod and I was just thinking about it (lol)
I know you're used to this concept, TFS has carrier with the fusion missile launchers instead of production slot, so I have a bad news and good news for you:
-Bad news: I'm sorry, no carriers with missiles in the empty room for production slots. Too simple and obvious.
-Good news: I'll make brand new ships in this category. I'll make combat carriers and warships with docks, both. Just give me a time, as I said, I haven't do anything in this ship classs yet.

but i problem i had with weapons that have a dmg radius is that all subsystems get destroyed, making this weapon very powerful to just screw enemy production and even bc's as they cant use there big guns anymore.... (description says it is planned...)
the same happens if it can dmg missiles, the missiles just explode in the tubes.....
I haven't actually test it in any real game, it's a brand new feature and I don't know how exactly will it work. But if this will cause problems (and you'll report them), it's very easy to set different damage (penetration) for subsystems.
Must look nice if you have five "artillery" destroyers and fire on the enemy mothership.
It would be two and a half times bigger, there are two destroyers firing at the mothership (8 turrets).
