This demo is for PVK II only. It has no shading, no vvis or vrad. Part of this is due to performance issues.
The map is made for Orange Box; while it runs smooth on Orange Box, it lags poorly in some areas in Episode 1 engine, not to mention a few misc issues I had with other things.
The map looks 10x better on Orange Box, and the 'perspective' or 'fov' feels more natural.. the picture looks squished. Anyway, enough with my EP1 bashing; just waiting for the new release of PVK II which will be using Orange Box, so the map can be compiled nicely.
The second reason for the fullbright shadowless compile, is because in PVK there are no flashlights. I'd have to do ALOT of additional lighting that I don't have time to do right now and that would only make a regular compile even longer.
Although it may not look as pretty, the map was updated signficantly for this release to allow for some playability. New tunnels/paths, teleporters, etc. I had an office chair, the one from the image gallery.. but it wouldn't run properly in Episode 1 engine even though I compiled the SMD for EP1.
So I quickly ended up in literally 10 minutes making a chair out of brushes, so the wooden chair used in the map is TEMPORARY and it was last minute so you guys had something to jump onto from the computer desk, for a quick way down to the floor.
The PVK version of this map is Grail Mode. Spawns are info_player_deathmatch, which means there is no pirate area, viking area, or knight area. It is random spawns, and 32-35 of them so should be enough. There are only 3 spawns for armor, food, and ammo; and they are far apart, across the room... so this map is not kind to stat whores, so none of that crap that goes on with PVK_Island.. where knights can easily access 2 sources of food (an additional 3rd upon attacking viking base).
Yeah, I have the same amount of food and armor for that one tiny area, spread across the entire map. Good luck :)

For it to be messy, several props have to be modeled. Mostly MDLs.
So that is alot of work, and this is beta... so it is too early to be expecting these things. All in good time.

would love to play this in Counter-Strike: Source (home of rats maps). Congrats for getting a rats map in PVK II as well though.
But CS: S is where it's at!

texture bug. I downloaded and installed latest PVK II from ModDB and extracted this map in it's folder. Why the pink and black checkerboards?
I know it's because of missing or invalid textures, but any patch for this?
