UPDATE: A playable demo is being released of the map, for Counter Strike Source and the mod
'Pirates, Vikings, and Knights II'. The Turntable model, and Dx7 keyboard MAY not load, and lighting on player models might be a little screwed up. I'm not sure why, but it might have to do with my map being saved as an orange box map? I compiled for CSS though, but w/e..
It will take awhile for it to upload, its 120 MB approx, RAR'd. 300 MB uncompressed.
Rats maps became popular for Counter Strike (later CS:S as well), and have also appeared in a few other games using the Source engine.
I made a Rats map a few years ago called De_Ferrets. I had a blast, and I always enjoyed playing Rats maps. I've decided that one of Miriscus's projects should be a Rats map.
I'm into a lot of retro pop culture. So the first new rats map I decided to make is a bedroom set in 1985. It will feature elements of 70s and 80s.
If I decide to do anymore rats maps afterwords, two other ideas are the following.
1. A Kitchen.
2. Captain's Quarters of a Pirate ship.
The map or maps are planned to be released for multiple games.
1. Pirates, Vikings, and Knights II
2. Garry's Mod
3. Counter Strike Source
4. Half-Life 2 Deathmatch
5. Left 4 Dead (If it can run without a problem)

Today's update is mostly new textures. I replaced a few of the posters with new ones.

You get to see the new wood floors, and painted walls and trim. I may adjust it a little more, but this is about the right color scheme I want.

Ghostbusters was changed to Empire Strikes Back, and Aliens poster was added.

Terminator was changed to Return of the Jedi, Pink Floyd's Animals changed to Dark Side of the Force
Added some more records, and a new LP cover graphic; Return of the Jedi (the score) on LP.
Yes a sudden burst of Star Wars shit, fuck yeah! It suits the 80s theme well.

Lastly did a test with film pictures of my cats. I used an old 35 MM minolta to take pictures of two of my cats, scanned the film and compressed it to 1024x1024. Did a test ingame to see how it looks.
The upclose shot of one of the pictures is ingame, so it looks pretty good. Can see the film grain and dust in the picture, very authentic <3

That is not the cover for Animals. It's Dark Side of the Moon.
thats awesome!
Awesome mapping
When will there be a CSS version again? =O
IDK. I don't think this will run nicely in Episode 1 version of the engine. It lags too badly. It may only be released for Orange Box only in the future, which is what PVK II is moving to next update. And L4D, if l4D can support it.
If I do a CSS release, it will be fullbright, no light rendering, no shadows.
Youtube.com Here is the video on youtube since the one here on ModDB is acting up.
Added a new video showing off an experiment I did. Proud to say it went well, the results were satisfactory.
Will I need EP2 to play these? Will I be able to get them in Gmod?
I think the css/pvkii version works with gmod.
I'll be releasing a new demo soon, since the map has been updated greatly since the July 14th release.
Released Jul 14, 1985 :DD
