Amazing! There is no way this is Source!

people need to stop saying that. Source is obviously a capable engine.

It's certainly a capable engine, but honestly, Valve's own mapping isn't as good as this. Half Life has much more simple maps and textures than this does.

Half-Life 2 is also almost 6 years older.

Half-Lifes are simple because of poor dummies, who cant afford to new rig.
For those poor dummies: get a job or sell some butt, then get a new rig.

I'd rather play half life and it's mods while kicking YOUR butt!

Valve disigns their games, so everyone could play them.
(for example, people with low end rigs.)

Modders instead use source with it's full strenght, and raindrops is a good example of that.

It's simply a complement man. Source is a little older engine and to accomplish such great looking maps is a great feat! Not that the source engine is bad. :D

Source is a capable engine, but to make maps look like this, it is a lot more difficult to do in source compared to some other modern day engines. For example, in UE3, you can easily apply high quality textures and sharers, and use vegetation tools to quickly paint high quality plant-life. However, in source, mappers have to do things like paste a lot of special entities to make maps look this good, for example, func_detail, which takes a lot of time and effort. Please correct me if i I am wrong about anything, as i am a coder, not a mapper :P

LOL, you have my pity, looks like you got buried by some pretty defensive people *coughballsoptcough*, despite your positive comment.

what's so defensive about calling out a dumb statement? I'm not exactly the source engine's #1 fan, but it's clearly able to produce remarkable visuals. Tho mainly i said that because i'm tired of hearing people saying that for every single quality source mod with good visual direction. We get it. you don't have to declare it for Every. Other. Source mod.

My point is that somebody with good intentions is being reprimanded. And your motive is because you're tired of hearing similar positive comments?

If my singling you out as defensive offended you though, I apologize.

I myself am tired of, "NO WAI DAT SAUCE," There are magnificent games out on the Source engine that put even this to rest.

Ha ha. Rated down? Alright. Here's a list of a few: Dear Esther, Black Mesa Source, Minerva, Resistance and Liberation, Ham and Jam, Garry's Mod, City 17: Episode 1, Age of Chivalry, and then there's that one about the village that I can't remember the name of. And even then, I'm sure I've missed a lot.

With this much detail, the levels themselves must be pretty small. Wouldn't the team run into trouble with the engine's object limit otherwise?

This is so amazing it makes me want to give up mapping, lol

I myself like VALVe because although they could have made everything super high quality, they kept their projects more simple so that I (With my old, weak computer) can play their games, and the Source Engine is an Engine which was invented in 2001 (!) and is still a good competitor to Crysis and Unreal Engine!
Because Source rocks!!

Bleh. I wouldn't compare Valve with Crytek. CryEngine is nice, but Valve's games are sooo much better when it comes down the the actual meat and bones of it.
