Dear followers of this page,

Matt (MSwartz) his PC just suddenly crapped out due to a sudden failure in the hardware. He's informed us, the rest of the team, on discord of this failure. We're trying to determine what part has failed, but even when we've concluded it to be the GPU / CPU / PSU or something else, we've got no funds to replace any parts now.

Matt was the provider of all builds we did. We would deliver the goods to him, he'd assemble and share the build. He would also code most of the shaders, together with Linda. Without a functional PC and the rest of the team lacking knowledge developing this core-feature of RADIUM; The engine, we're unable to work on the mod. Linda and Matt teamed up to talk-implement-test and redo this cycle. Without his PC, he can't test any of the engine modifications (we work mostly on DX11, so if his GPU died, we'd need a pretty solid replacement to continue working).

Yes, the rest of the team can still work on other aspects of the mod. Textures can still be made and sounds / other features, too. But, we kept supplying the rest of the team with a new build from time to time, working on our stuff as we go, which came to a halt. Hence we've gotta halt development of the 'core' mod, in a way, until we determine what's wrong.

Thanks for the continuous support and until soon,

Tean RADIUM

Please cope with us during these times. We, as much as any of you, want this mod and amazing project to see the light of day. If any of you are feeling generous enough, you can help Matt out by sending some funds to his PayPal: Matthew.w.swartz@gmail.com

Update: don't donate. I got the money for a new computer (whole damn thing got fried, however never fear, I keep backups of everything Radium related).

I appreciate those of you who didn't act like spoiled children in the news thread comments....

Anyway, I've been recruited to work on an Indie game, and it's going to be mostly full-time, so there will likely be a changeover in who works on Radium as I may not have much time to work on it anymore, and I did a bit of everything, so hopefully it'll continue without me. If they end up struggling to keep afloat I'll make time to come back and finish what I can.

Congratulations with your new job, well desevered! However, I can’t help but wonder where you are going to find a person capable of finishing the 64 bit version of STALKER. We’re very grateful for all the hard work you and your team has done so far, but I fear that yet another (especially) promising STALKER project is going to end up in development limbo. Radium, and especially Radium X-Ray combined with Call Of Chernobyl, would have been amazing. :(

Amoch - I think that 64-bit X-Ray is developed by Im-Dex :

Github.com

RADIUM is , alongside the Ray of Hope , one of first mods that uses it . There are some heavy optimizations on various mods , but never there were before true 64-bit engine . Apparently it is stable at this moment .

Matthew - no problem , congrats on your job .

OK, I stand corrected. Of course there are many other improvements that would be excellent for CoC (apart from CoP itself of course), like shaders/graphics, sound fx, textures etc. Really hope that Radium will continue, it's simply too good of a mod to just fade away. Again, congrats with the job MSwartz. :-)

I'd like to donate but I'd rather have a crowdfunding system in place to monitor the donations. Please Radium-team, make this happen! For me this is the only mod that matters in STALKER now.

If you guys want the privilege of working with a Pro like Linda, Radium could always use more talent. Open recruitment in (almost) all areas.
