Use 7-zip to open the pack. Play shareware episode, or buy full Quake from id software, or on Steam.

i think this pack is pretty much my preferred method of playing original quake at this point. the only issue i'm having at the moment is getting other mods to work in it. i've got a great flashlight mod that works fine in standard quake, but in this thing where it would actually be useful, it closes the game upon loading the mod. it there a list somewhere i have to edit for this to work, or am i screwed?

You can put it wherever you want. It doesn't integrate with system in any way.

Just copy over same named v1.44 folders, so updated files will replace the old ones.

Hi _Smith_,
decided to come back to your sweet modpack. Got two questions, hope you can help me out.

1. Is there a way to use your modpack but have the vanilla weapon sprites? I just love the overall look of the classic ones.

2. I use your mod also to play Quake with the classic look. Inside the folder "Quake_Classic" I run "quakespasm" to play Quake 1. But where can I find the .exe to play Map Pack 1 and 2? Cannot find it :(

Really hope you can help me out on this.
Keep up the great work on this - your mod is srsly one of the best I have

Just remove IP_Weapons_Ruohis_My-Key_Plague.pk3 from id1\

I also recommend to download Item_textures_v0.73 from Qrp.quakeone.com
After you unzip it with 7z, you'll get a pk3 file.
You'll find instructions for accessing pk3 packs content in the QHD readme pdf.
Create progs\ folder in the Quake HD Pack\id1\ folder.
Copy there weapon textures starting with "v_" in the filename.
These are faithful hi-res weapons textures for original view models.

Similarily, you can add back from IP_Weapons_Ruohis_My-Key_Plague.pk3 missing projectiles and pickup weapon models and textures.

Finally, there is alternative replacement models pack to try Quakeone.com

Installation: Easy as breathing. Just copy and paste two original files from your Quake CD into a given folder, run the vispatcher. After that just copy and paste these two files in another given folder and you are done and ready to play. I personally hate it when I have to read several instructions of how to get amod running.
