Quake 4 Fortress is a mod (modification) for Quake 4 based on Team Fortress. This means that it still has a similar feel and gameplay to the original game, but the visuals are altered for the most part. It also means that the game retains a lot of Quake 4's key features. Q4F's theme is one that gives a wide variety of locations. The overall themes of the classes and models will be "Retro Futuristic" (aka Wastelandish/Rustic future). This sort of feel gives us the ability to implement any sort of map theme we like. The classes and weapons will feel right at home in space, rundown powerplants, industrial zones, medival structures, castles, modern day bases, the list goes on... Most of the maps consist of Capture the Flag (CTF) type gameplay. This game mode consists of two teams, red and blue. Each team can have up to eight players (this may change depending on Q4's playerlimit). The objective of the game is the enter the enemy team's base, locate the Flag and "capture" it. Capturing means stealing the enemy Flag, taking it to your own base, and returning it to a pre-specified location. This will award the team with points. The team with the most points at the end of the map, is the winner. Usually a team will consist of a defense and an offense, responsible for the own flag's defense, and the theft of the enemy flag, respectively. Every player has to choose between one of nine classes, each with their unique features, advantages and disadvantages. Some maps have alternative game modes, such as Hunted. In a game of Hunted, one team (snipers) strives to kill a certain individual, while the other team has to escort the person to a predefined location.
Q4F was originally D3F (Doom 3 Fortress) which was put on hiatus because of the state of D3's MP.

Here's the gameplay video I threw together at the very last minute for the Q4F Mod Workshop at QuakeCon '06. It shows our Alpha Build 2 in action, along with the official Q4F Theme Song, "Zero Gravity (Instramental)" by Mind Shelter.
Thanks to all the testers who showed up at the last possible minute to help get this footage. Without you guys I wouldn't have been able to get this video together in time for QuakeCon.

got any bot support i can only play offline because my computer very slow.
what a cool mod, can't wait to play it. I haf a suggestion, in my opinion, you should remove the nailgun, heavy(super) nailgun and the spy's sedative gun, and make the sniper rifle to shoot normally, like in TF2, without having to hold the fire button. another thing, will there be (smart or normal)bots included?.
if you can, I'll be really happy, again, can't wait for this mod to be out
Q4F has been picked up by the staff at TeamFortressXtreme.com and numerous fixes have been applied to the game by avirox (aka Xavior) and beta testing has already begun with outstanding reviews from the beta testers. It has also been setup to work with the latest Q4 patch (1.4.2) which addresses multi-player issues.
If you would like to check it out simply make sure your Quake 4 is updated with the latest patch and join the Quake 4 Fortress Xtreme server visible in the in-game browser.

man, the original team fortress kicked all ass. they shouldn't have removed bunnyhopping, bunnyhop is the freakin' greatest glitch in the history of FPS'.

well concidering how quake3 fortresses was way way better and still is better than half lives exsisting fortresses... i believe (hope) quake 4 fortresses will probably mostly likely be better. But then again hl2 turned me from hardcore quake fan. Although im one of the few people who still populate the q3fs almost non-exsistant servers.. go check it out. www.q3f.com Its better than HLs TF
