Driven to defeat and desperation, the Allied Forces are pressured to drastic action. Using the remaining technology from Einstein's Time Machine, they piece together a device that allows them to make a single time jump from 1975.

With it, they plan to assassinate Yuri and Premier Romanov in one fell swoop, before they can devise the invasion plan on the United States. And so, 5 years before the start of the Soviet Invasion, 1968, the desperate soldiers arrive not far out of Moscow, and undertake a covert mission to assassinate Yuri and Romanov on their very first meeting.

But, sensing their intent, Yuri flees the Kremlin, leaving only Romanov to be killed. In outrage, the Soviet Union cobbles together old technologies from GWWII and new, experimental designs, and begins an attack on a mission of revenge. The Allied Nations, enjoying the luxuries of peace, are caught unawares and toppled from their place as world leaders. Worse still, Yuri flees to China and causes an uprising, inspiring them to join the Soviets in the attack on the Allied Nations, but with dark motives still at heart.

Unaware of the effects of unstable time travel, the team of Time Travelers had acted with great abandon, opening a crack in the fabric of reality, through to a parallel universe, and in perfect time for a particular power-mad AI to step through, and find a place in this world, so that he too may wreak havoc upon the Human race.

The Future of PW

News

Project Winterstorm is based on a new storyline and campaign, but the main effort is, and always will be, to create a mod that will be fun to play. This is the main priority, even above balance to a certain extent, though both are key issues.
Already we have implemented several new features, such as:
-Fog of War (Buggy at the moment, but we may be close to a solution)
-Power Up/Down logic (Conveniently implemented by Ares)
-Brand new factions formed from scratch, with unique and diverse units.

In addition to the given factor of a mod providing new units and structures, we also have a multitude of support powers, as well as custom designs for each faction, so that we do not end up with a mod that, aesthetically speaking, feels random and inconsistent.

In case the last few image posts had not quite explained the story for you, here is a basic re-cap, following the Soviet victory in Yuri's Revenge:

"Driven to defeat and desperation, the Allied Forces are pressured to drastic action.

Unaware of the effects of unstable time travel, the team of Time Travelers had acted with great abandon, opening a crack in the fabric of reality, through to a parallel universe, and in perfect time for a particular power-mad AI to step through, and find a place in this world, so that he too may wreak havoc upon the Human race."

This is the plot leading up to the storyline that plays out in the campaigns, leading along a single time line, instead of diverging like the original game. Furthermore, it is split into two chapters, before and after the great uprising of Cortex.

So now that the scene is set, and you may understand a little better what is happening in this universe, please leave your opinion on what technologies and events you would like to see in this mod.

Rift is by no means a total conversion, but it certainly strives to bring key changes to both Lore and general Game-play. An important aspect of this...

I do not plan on continuing development of this mod, and as such I thought it fair that I release all my work. Credits are included for all assets used...

You should really set the game to Red Alert 2. Choosing "Command & Conquer" as game links it to C&C1, not to RA2.

Thanks, I missed that one. This page was constructed in a bit of a rush, I will admit. The issue I am having is that Moddb doesn't admit Red Alert 2 to be a game (on the list). I'll need a while to see what's going on, but something is broken.

OK no, it was just not in alphabetical order on the list. Anyway, fixed now. I have some new content I will be putting up in a few moments.
