Proving Grounds is a TDM modification for Natural Selection 2. It focuses on First Person combat, without the RTS elements of the full game. Currently in alpha development, the mod will eventually feature multiple modes and full customisation of characters and models. This will be updated as more media becomes available. NS2 is currently in Beta, so this mod is only accessible to those with a NS2 beta key.

For those of you out there with a copy of the Natural Selection 2 Beta, you can now browse to NS2 in the Steam Workshop and download two of our current active mods.
Combat Mode -
A recreation of the NS1 game mode Combat. Without commander support, Marines fight Aliens in a straight-forward Team Deathmatch scenario, with kills and other actions earning you XP, which can be spent on upgrades. Get yourself levelled up, before levelling the enemy command structure.
Sanity -
A horror focused mod, where use of light and dark is not only a change of atmosphere, it could also cost you your Sanity...
Keep in the light, and away from the Darkness........

Updated mod to version 1.6.2. Updated map pg_lunacy. Added Tier 2 abilities to Aliens.
This is an update for build 216 compatibility. New features coming in v1.7a. This release includes updates to the map pg_lunacy by Trainee.

Balance fix for Proving Grounds Mod. Until Marine Upgrades are in, I have added a buff to marine weapons and armour. Also increased skulk bite damage...
Whats the point in removing the one thing that sets this game apart from the others? It ends up turning the game into a more generic title barely on par with other games.
i didnt understand much but will this be as Counter-strike's multiplayer? Buying the things on the start and so?
You will be able to buy at any time during the round in the current version. As soon as you have enough res, you can upgrade. Eventually the plan is to have you buy your items while dead, so you then spawn in with your weapons/abilities already bought.
The main difference between this and the counter-strike purchase system is that you will respawn in after you die, and not have to wait out the round, so you buy on each death, rather than only at round start.
