Project: White is an Unreal Tournament 3 Mod that focuses on team play. It is set in a star system on the verge of destruction, as its sun is caught up in the throes of a chain of supernovae. The colonies of this system have months till exodus, but which colonies will be included? It is an Unreal Tournament 3 Modification with the express purpose of trying to successfully build out the White universe. The focus of this project is to bring a couple new game types to the Unreal Franchise and at the same time network the team with the rest of the unreal community. Our project’s heart is in multiplayer interaction over the internet or LAN, but we are going to include some extensions of the AI to allow it to make playing alone more interesting.

As planned, on Oct. 1st Project: White was first compiled and since then the project has been expanding outwards. The Core team is back, save Jibbs, with the common goal of getting Project: White built on the UDK. We are hard at work developing a number of interesting things, so keep your eyes open.

Moving to the UDK does put a certain level of work back on our plate, almost entirely in the realm of artwork needing to be done to compensate for the missing assets from the UDK packages. In light of this, we are looking to expand our team and get our development momentum back. Positions we have open currently include Level Designer, 3D Artist, Foley Artist, Concept Artist, Testers, Publicity Agent. If you are interested in helping out and don’t fit into these categories please do still reach out, we likely need your help.

  • Portfolio preferred
  • Must have experience with Unreal Engine 3 (UDK, UT3, Etc.) or another game engine of similar quality
  • Experience with version control & team development processes

The goal here is to get the game polished up and released on Steam with the UDK license to help fund another venture. This means money will eventually be involved, once we get the game fleshed out. For now all contributions are compensated solely with experience and expanding your portfolio.

Please reach out to let us know that you are interested with information about yourself and what you would like to contribute via an email to contact@whitemod.com with the subject line Developer Application

As of now the installer does not create a shortcut for the steam version.
If you right click on your desktop and create a new shortcut, then browse for ut3.exe which is here C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\unreal tournament 3\Binaries
Now you need to right click on the shortcut and go to properties and paste this at the end of the target -mod=..\White\Config

If you have any probs just send me a message.

I HATE the steam integration and I'm hoping UT3 and mods will function without it. I feel most of the UT community does not mix well with the (What I find to be horrid) steam community. Even without the steam community there's talk of hatred for the steam community (To put it into perspective). I've also always found that UT does not mix with the steam genres being a COMPLETE twitch shooter much like quake (Another game I never want to ever use off steam) and because of this is often compared to shooters like CSS (A sad twitch based modern day terrorist obj shooter). I also hate the fact that I have to have steam open seperatly to run UT3 if I integrate, when without UT3 runs right off my desktop no disk needed. I've even had bad experiences with running games on or off steam (Dark Messiah being the best example) and having crash and lag issues when running games off steam that run perfectly off steam, but once the steam version is installed the off disk version stops working...

Sorry to rant here I just...really hate steam...

Really? I LOVE steam, I have never had any problems with crashes etc, and the ease of use is awesome, no worries about patches, CDs, etc. However, all that said, I rarely use the steam community, but I can;t imagine why someone would assume that this mod is like CSS because its on steam. A HUGE number of RTS/non-twitch games are on steam so why would they assume they are all like CSS. Plus UT games generally have a reputation (not saying this is true) of being twitchy... Also, I don't mind steam running in the background as I run a large number of games off it and its easier to just run on startup (I should probably check to make sure I'm not getting any performance issues because of this).

Anyway, keep up the good work on what seems to be a very interesting mod!

Steam crashes on games that have both on steam and OFF steam versions, but if you have both installed the one OFF steam stops working. I've used steam for mods for MANY years and have done work on the source engine. And YES UT (Or quake) gets compared to CSS (If you actually play it and mention it most of them will shut it down saying its DS). Also they won't accept that Quake 3 (ID tech 3) was the source of GoldSource engine, and UT2K4 was the competition Source based its values on (Not joking at all) creating a hate circle for those who have followed UT and quake since their beginning. Sorry bob_gneu, I'm not trying to be slanderous but I just can't stand this UT3 to steam integration. I want to play UT3 as I did UT2K4 for hundreds of hours of my life.

Steam is just an application execution tool for me. I am familiar with it because of my work on Source and so i guess im not as frustrated by it. Ill give you a pat on the back though, the community is crap, but for that matter most are.

One thing you have to stand by with Project: White is that our community will not be allowed to devolve into OTF or Slanderous craziness. I hope that our community, as it builds out, is going to continue to be as supportive as you all have been.
