Project Valkyrie is a multiplayer first person shooter developed for the Source Engine. Players suit up in the Valkyrie suit, equipped with a powerful arm cannon integrated into the suit and the ability to morph into a sphere for faster mobility and different attack capabilities. Previously titled Three Month Mod, it was thus named for the amount of time it had taken us on the project. Three months from conception to release. Everything was done simultaneously, from pre-production concepts, to code, to mapping. Unfortunately, due to a delay with the public release of the Orange Box SDK (we couldn't release without it, even though we were already Orange Box!) our initial release had been delayed.

Project Valkyrie (originally known as Three Month Mod) started as a team-building exercise wherein we quickly ground out a deliverable within a three month time frame. From there we would move along to more complex and original projects. Somewhere along the way though, we became very attached to our little mod, and diverted all of our efforts from our large-scale, big concept project to complete Three Month Mod not only with quantity, but also quality.

Our team started small, ballooned towards the middle of development, and now, as we approach release, we have sloughed off the excess to hone our team down to a dedicated group of talented individuals filling each of the roles necessary to produce the mod.

Whereas originally we planned on releasing Three Month Mod and moving on to other projects, we now plan on supporting it continually with new content and updates in the future, depending on community reaction to our first release.

If you want to see more from the mod, the best way is to get active in our forums and let us know. Suggestions, ideas, we'll take it all into consideration.

-EDIT- January 05 2009, The server is down now. I'm in Korea and not ready to get another server. I just thought I'd tack this into this news post, not ready to make another one yet ;) -Tony

====================================

I bought a dedicated server tonight for PV 1.2
You can find it at 208.167.234.225:27015 or in the server browser _INSIDE_ the game, I repeat, Inside the game. This server is hosted by gameservers.com and is located in New York USA.

The server browser isn't distinguishing between Ep1 and Ep2 on the dedicated server, and it thinks it's running the ep1 engine, and it makes servers not show up outside of the game, consequently you also cannot join them even if you add them as favorites unless you load up Project Valkyrie first!

A few of us just had a great game on the new server, and I expect to keep it up-to date all the time!

Hope you get some games going on it!

Hi all, my name is Justin and I'm the new project manager for Blackened. Tony and I felt we should give a quick update for what's been going on the past couple of months. First off, there's been some personnel changes as Zanboo is no longer with us. As for current projects, we're putting the finishing touches on an alpha of Resistance and Liberation which we're hoping to release soon (no I can't give more specific info than that). Tony is also updating Project Valkyrie to work with Orange Box and he's adding some new features to it. Again, can't give specifics yet. Look for another update soon on Valkyrie and RnL.

From the site.

I just installed this mod

1) I really thought that after I install -Source SDK Base - Orange Box-, I could play this game. When I change the line from gameinfo.txt to "SteamAppId 218". I get a message after I launch the mod: "You do not own this game".

2) I got my friend to borrow his Orange Box acco. My ping is 130 to the closest server. After I join and stay for a while I get kicked out. "Client timed out".

The timeout thing is a VAC issue that needs to be fixed.

The not owning this game thing, is because the servers are still running with TF2's appid - If you're borrowing an account for now, change the appid back to 440 and then you'll be able to play.

Sorry for the inconveniences, but until the vac issue is resolved, I'm not going to make an update to switch over to 218 officially.

Just go into the gameinfo.txt and change the appID to 218. We're a bit busy trying to get new maps, weapons and game modes to you in the next few months. When we have something to send out with it we'll do a patch but you really don't need one since it's as simple as what I said above.

You also need to download the new Orange box SDK base in the tools menu.
