Project Valkyrie is a multiplayer first person shooter developed for the Source Engine. Players suit up in the Valkyrie suit, equipped with a powerful arm cannon integrated into the suit and the ability to morph into a sphere for faster mobility and different attack capabilities. Previously titled Three Month Mod, it was thus named for the amount of time it had taken us on the project. Three months from conception to release. Everything was done simultaneously, from pre-production concepts, to code, to mapping. Unfortunately, due to a delay with the public release of the Orange Box SDK (we couldn't release without it, even though we were already Orange Box!) our initial release had been delayed.

A visual walkthrough of Project:Valkyrie's "Twin Bridges" map, from initial concept to deliverable.

Posted by Zanboo on Dec 14th, 2007

From original concepts by Jordan "Captain N Tenneal" Ratzlaff...

... to final completion with mapping by Vic "Woe Kitten" Krengel, texture work by Jordan "Captain N Tenneal" Ratzlaff and Frank "JohnnyQwest" Rapoza, and lava effects by Tony "Omega" Sergi.

We'll be updating regularly in the coming week as we continue to wait for the release of the SDK. Expect in-game screenshots, videos, and more!

just an off the wall question.. how can you determine how detailed it is.. you're looking at one screenshot from way far above away from it? lol.

Mainly most of the screens show the entire area, but of course there might be more hat hasn't been shown. Still good looking map, and this mod is coming along very nicely.

Get your lightmaps set up correctly with the smoothing groups around those rounded corners and it will look even more authentic... I like the clean sci-fi look it has. The lava is a little small in scale for the size of the open area.. if you check out pics of lava in large open areas, you will notice large dark sports that have cooled with some expulsions of magma in certain area from the flow or even a turbulent chamber that would be underneath... just a suggestion...

Wait, what? I have to have Orange Box to play this, now?

Lame. Well, that pretty much killed all anticipation I once had. Anybody wanna spot me $50?

You shouldn't once the source 2007 base cache file is made (the main thing we're waiting for, not exactly the SDK since we already have everything else)
