Welcome to Project Reality: Battlefield 2 (aka PR:BF2), a free to download game modification for the Battlefield 2 (aka BF2) retail Windows PC game. The focus of this mod is to rework the original game engine developed by Digital Illusions of Sweden (Dice) within legal and feasible constraints to create a more realistic combat environment for the gaming community. This includes adjusting various game play elements including physics, visual effects and overall game play formats. Along with changes to how the game handles, the Project Reality team has been introducing British, Insurgent, IDF forces, Canadian, and Russian factions, plus a number of community assisted factions are currently in the works to introduce even more factions to the virtual battlefields. This Mod is not for the masses, due to the fact that it has a much higher learning curve then your classic arcade game. This is the real deal.

The Project Reality team comprises a group of dedicated individuals, several of whom have backgrounds in armed services and whose sole task is to provide researched material, including statistical information, to the developers. These are in turn tasked with coding and creating the mod itself. If you are looking for a fact based first person shooter from the perspective of a combat soldier, you need not look any further.

The award winning Project Reality Team is proud to announce the official release of Project Reality: BF2 v1.0!

After 8 years of development and 21 total releases, we are pleased to announce the general availability of Project Reality: BF2, version 1.0. Since our last release (v0.98), our dedicated development team has put in countless hours of hard and intense work to produce PR:BF2 v1.0. Featuring all new models and textures, new maps, new code, new features, tweaks, fixes, and complete overhauls, this is by far our largest release to date. Almost every single file in the game has been modified in one way or another! The Open BETA for v1.0 last month provided us with valuable feedback across all aspects of the game, and now we are now ready for release.

As Project Reality fans are already aware of, the password required to unlock the installer for the preload version is now available and listed below. You can also obtain it on the official password page.

Thanks to several direct link providers, there are a number of mirrors available to download the un-passworded version of Project Reality: BF2 v1.0. You can also download via torrent, but you will still need to enter the password in order to install. You can find all of the download links here:

First: @Natocommander: DO NOT EVER talk about pirating games as that i illegal NO MATTER WHAT.

Secondly: Learn to write English ffs, i don't care if you are 15, you live in the US and should be able to write English, When i was 12, i could write it better than you can now. And I'm from Norway ffs!

Third: We DO NOT care about your opinion on the "big corporations" as they are yours and we simply do not care.

Forth: "I'm not a criminal I'm 15 years old" Your age have nothing to do with you being a criminal or not, pirating games is ILLEGAL and therefor you are a criminal.

Fith: "2 kinds of people when it comes to the market, the consumers and the corporations" Wrong, the corporations, are not the 2nd people on the market, they are the once making the market, there are two types indeed. "Legal - Illegal" and guess which one you go under...

Sixth: (final one) guys, do not spam this page with replies to f`tards like this one, instead go to his profile and click on the "report" function on the right side where it says "profile"

seventh: (I lied) @natocommander, please for the sake of the moddb community, learn the proper way to write a sentence in English

What is wrong with my grammar? Nobody has ever been arrested for downloaded games from the torrent. Police cant catch people downloading games from the torrent. Downloading games from the torrent is not like robing a bank. If I want a game I will download it for free, my dad doesn't want to be bothered with buying a stack of games for me. It used to take years just to get one game I wanted and the torrent changed that. Maybe if I had the abillty to buy my own games I would of never resorted to pirating.

Okay let me put this slowly. Go buy ONE of the games with mods supported on Desura. Most of them you get for cheap on steam or on a online store like amazon or ebay or whatever. Alright bare with me, after buying ONE game you can come on here and get tons of mods for FREE with the ONE CHEAP game you got. And most of the mods are like having a new game. People from the companies have people that work very hard on the games they sell. The money goes to help pay for the hard work those people did. So stop being a complantive prick and go BUY a game.

I have Flight Simulator X and Combat Flight Simulator 3 both of which I did not pirate but, I had to wait a very long time to get them. I wanted to try IL-2 Sturmovik because I heard about people saying how much it was better than Combat Flight Simulator 3 so, I downloaded from a torrent. My parents would never get me IL-2 because they would think I have CF3 and they are the same thing. I don't buy my own games. Maybe after I am over 18 and I have a job and make my own money I can buy games myself. Torrent is great because I don't have to wait years to get a game. Before I knew about torrenting game I had to beg for years just to get one game.

Oh for ***** sake USE STEAM you can get really good games on there for pretty cheap and you only have to wait for the game to download. Good lord, you have gone from spammer, to complainer, and now whiney bitch.

The BF2 engine on its edge... the BF2 gameplay reformed and finally promotes real teamwork. If you search for challenges in tactics and adrenaline boosted firefights this is the FPS game you search. For me it worths to buy BF2 (if you haven't yet) just to experience this mod. The extra content and the gameplay that is provided through Project Reality makes me to feel that PR is not a mod but a whole new game you can have for free. From Clan's experience perspective it is a must for every player…

Overrated! Not noob friendly. Great concept, terrible manual, tutorials, and controls. Half the time people don't even know what they're doing. Half the time you don't even know what you're doing. Pretty much follow a bunch of other people to get killed. The bots are excellent at shooting and killing you so it gives no room for even newbies to learn. The game is made so complex that it totally destroys the gameplay. Half the time you're running around in huge maps and when you finally make it somewhere…
