Welcome to Project Reality: Battlefield 2 (aka PR:BF2), a free to download game modification for the Battlefield 2 (aka BF2) retail Windows PC game. The focus of this mod is to rework the original game engine developed by Digital Illusions of Sweden (Dice) within legal and feasible constraints to create a more realistic combat environment for the gaming community. This includes adjusting various game play elements including physics, visual effects and overall game play formats. Along with changes to how the game handles, the Project Reality team has been introducing British, Insurgent, IDF forces, Canadian, and Russian factions, plus a number of community assisted factions are currently in the works to introduce even more factions to the virtual battlefields. This Mod is not for the masses, due to the fact that it has a much higher learning curve then your classic arcade game. This is the real deal.
The Project Reality team comprises a group of dedicated individuals, several of whom have backgrounds in armed services and whose sole task is to provide researched material, including statistical information, to the developers. These are in turn tasked with coding and creating the mod itself. If you are looking for a fact based first person shooter from the perspective of a combat soldier, you need not look any further.

The BF2 engine on its edge... the BF2 gameplay reformed and finally promotes real teamwork. If you search for challenges in tactics and adrenaline boosted firefights this is the FPS game you search. For me it worths to buy BF2 (if you haven't yet) just to experience this mod. The extra content and the gameplay that is provided through Project Reality makes me to feel that PR is not a mod but a whole new game you can have for free. From Clan's experience perspective it is a must for every player…

Overrated! Not noob friendly. Great concept, terrible manual, tutorials, and controls. Half the time people don't even know what they're doing. Half the time you don't even know what you're doing. Pretty much follow a bunch of other people to get killed. The bots are excellent at shooting and killing you so it gives no room for even newbies to learn. The game is made so complex that it totally destroys the gameplay. Half the time you're running around in huge maps and when you finally make it somewhere…

The Saxon (the Brit troop carrier) issues are being resolved, and the map is a great number called Operation Ghost Train :).
Brit forces are already in it, but only on certain maps, i think theres 3 maps there in
the only con i have is the brit troop carrier, i know its built from scratch but when going over that railway bridge in that-map-i-can-remember-the-name-of, its like driving it over a gaiser, it jumps up and down and all around, even when its blown up!
the bridge is in the picture up the top
btw thats one of the brit maps just in case u couldnt figure
Hi, nice site, I am a member now! 8) Derka!
PRM is the greatest mod Ive ever played !! :D
it's a pity that they are just a few servers ;C
this mod pwns even without the new armies. the maps, realism changes and kit limiting are all it needs. 8)
Not something I could answer, servers are independent from the mod. Best to ask on the PR forums if there are people affiliated with WBO.
They look quite good in game.
ok i maybe was a little hard on that model
ye the reason why the saxon jumps ups and down is cos of the rails on the train bridge. Its not just the saxon, all the cars dont like it hehe. Its fixed in 0.41 when it comes out :)
Been playing this for awhile now, I have to say that I think they are headed in the right direction with this mod. It by far is the only mod for BF2 that is worth playing (that includes BF2 itself).
Pros:
- A bit less cone-fire (with hopes of complete removal)
- No x-hairs
- 2d iron sights
- Less vehicles w/server side configurations to remove them entirely
- Point capture by order (flags must be captured in order to advance to the next flag)
- Custom/modified maps
- Different game modes
- Team play/tactical emphasis
- Less action, more conflict
- Weapon pre-configurations reworked
- Commander bound to squads and vise versa
Cons:
- Not a very large supporting community, usually 2 servers have players in it at a time. Foreign: .:IGI:. and US: Gloryhounds tends to have all the action. Which is ok, but more variety would be nice.
- Certain weapon configurations leave much to be desired. For instance, the Assault class has Armor, Pistol, Knife, Ammo Re-supply and Smoke allowing for a lot of camping and grenade spamming. Where as the more logical classes do not posses even the most basic Armor such as Flak jackets (medic, spec-ops) let alone useful necessities. The only class that should not have body armor is the Sniper.
- Bugged Medic Paddles, you only get 5 charges, more often then not, 3 are wasted due to the corpse not recognizing the revive.
- Cone fire, now I’ve spoken to a dev about this and supposedly it is hard coded into the engine, which isn't surprising knowing Dice/EA. However the cone fire in this mod can really be aggravating. More often then not 3 shots to the upper body should be enough to kill someone or even critically wound them in this mod, but 8/10 times were you’re aiming isn't where you’re hitting them. This is especially seen with some of the weapons on the Chinese and MEC side.
- Fire pausing, certain weapons are virtually useless. Such is the AK47 (MEC/Chinese), regardless of the fire mode (auto, burst, semi) this gun will fail to go where your sights are aimed and will pause at least 1ms before actually firing. Now this wouldn't be such a bad thing if it wasn't for the next con.
- Dolphin diving & non-iron sight fire. This pretty much speaks for itself. Much like the massive amount of (bf2/bf2sf/cs/dod/list goes on) people who enjoy spray and pray no-aim action or jump-diving like some sort of bunny on pcp, this mod has its fair share players who abuse this ability. I personally think you shouldn’t be able to shoot at all while going prone or even while not aiming for that matter, as it defeats its purpose of a reality mod.
Now, granted most of this is based off my personal experience playing PRMM, and there is probably a person for each finger on my hand that can say, "I have no problem shooting people with so and so gun". Either do I, depending on the day and who I'm against, but that’s beside the point. The point of this mod (or so I’m lead to believe) is to be a realistic as possible mod considering what the engine is capable/compatible of handling or doing.
And all in all, I think it’s headed in the right path. Few tweaks here and there, new models/maps/game play additions (such as leaning) will definitely help push it as far as it can go.
So, try it out if you’re interested.
- Keep up the good work.
