Project HDTP is a High Definition Texture Package for the original Deus Ex game. The original in-game textures were of a very low resolution, some textures even being as low as 32x32. However, it was discovered that it is possible to increase the resolution of those textures to a maximum of 256. This has been tested in-game and we have witnessed the start of a massive graphical overhaul.

Features:

1. All new remodelled and retextured Objects.

2. Objects will sport a high resolution of 256.

3. Brand new character models and matching high resolution skins.

4. Character models are more individual. For example each guard/trooper type will now have its own model instead of using the generic one.

5. Character models now have their own fingers (removing the 'mittens' effect).

6. Models that require animation will be full animated from scratch to compliment the higher quality feel.

7. Characters look darker and more moody to enhance the game play experience.

8. Vehicle models and weapons will be remodelled, skinned and reanimated.

Been awhile since I personally posted a news article so here it goes.

For those of you who do not keep up with the forums, our new modeler/texture artist _Alex_ has been banging out our character models. Almost at an impossible pace for me to comprehend.

Here they are:

Paul DentonWalton Simons

Any comments or suggestions, post them on our forums. Of course you can also comment on here, but not everyone comes here.

This is my last news post until the new year, so have a safe and fun Christmas/December!

Keep in mind that these aren't the final versions, I intend on changing them as the project progresses. Have fun

I've got one more week of work on the level mod before I start Uni again. (but that don't mean anything as it'll be a part time thing, HDTP will still be worked on)

Will you be sending the cookies by air freight? Joking of course...

I've done about 4 textures so far and they look awsome, but the 5th is WIP as I need to make a Fake render of a character from Deus Ex because the old ones look crap on posters. I finnished the Tonichi (spelling) road sign, I added some grit to it, I'll consider rusting it if we all go for the more poorer Cyberpunk style (by that I mean slumming it) otherwise I'll leave it like the old Deus Ex just with more realism. I've done a crappy little website too, but probably wont put it up.. I'll rework it when i get the time.

Does that mean the forums are down too?

It's just a new hosting plan, and just a heads up: I don't think that_guy is uh... THAT guy. You know? I'm pretty sure it's not Shane, Shane has a different mail address, and if he had a ModDB account, I'm sure he'd have told me so I could add him to the TNM team list.

that_guy who posted a comment below is probably somebody who wants to help with the graphics?

But before all that ...Mr_CyberPunk, good luck man ;) If you can prove me wrong you will earn 1000 cookies no less!

That_Guy: we will be requiring your assistance at some point matey - we'll get in touch for your expertise ;)

And now onto the website. Due to the fact that our kind providers, 'OTP', have changed providers (or hosting plan - cant recall which), our website is a little all over the show momentarily. The site works but we cant post news, we dont have a forum and we dont have our beloved upload manager. Master_Kale and Trestkon are working hard to rectify the situation so thanks for bearing with us!

Metche :)

Well I can be done, Metche was right. there's about 1,000 textures in total. Which is about 150 per Theme. (Theme being the area, NYC, HK, PARIS.) This means we cannot re-texture individual levels, rather just change the themes acordingly. Starting with HK because its going to play as a benchmark for HDTP.

I've been doing some texturing, most of the building textures are really above my skills in photoshop, I can do them but they don't look like the originals exactly. The reason is because I can't mimic the weather damage properly. Meanwhile I've done a few of the signs, which look better than the originals. I'll look into some of the decorations too. (the Decorations are the level ones, not the actual objects.)

Last night I re-textured the Lucky Money banner just for a little fun, it looks really good at 256x128.

I think I can get all of the signs finnished within the 2 weeks I have. Mostly just the easier stuff.

Remember that I'm just trying it out to prove Metche wrong :P

I'll probably have a site running by the deadline so that everyone can see what I changed. Note: I really suck at UnrealEd so I'm going to need someone to import the textures I make into the levels so don't expect any screenies just yet. (because the level textures are seperate from the Maps I think? maybe theres an easier way)

Yeah this should all be in the forums, but still being updated.. Sorry for long posting..

Yeah thought you were updating it. Thanks for letting me know about the weapons, there goes that concern. I'll look into the level textures probably tommorow. I think I might do Wan Chai market seeing has the HDTP is using that as a Benchmark. I only intend on attempting at least one level to begin with just to figure out if it is doable in a particular timeframe.

Hope to have something to report by tommorow.

The forum is down because we're in the process of upgrading the Off Topic Productions webspace to a better service. It'll be back up soon.

And if I recall correctly, the weapon models are also scheduled to be remodelled and reanimated. I'm not sure when this will happen though, I believe it's rather far down their priority list.

I'll be looking into the level textures when I can so that if I'm quick enough then I could offer re-doing all the level textures as a Mini-Mod.
The atmosphere was a big part of Deus Ex so I'll consider working on it if it won't kill me in the process. I aint promising anything though.

Let me know if I'm insane? Must be the coper wires coming out of my neck!

Also another question, sorry metche

is there any intention of fixing the weapon models too?

Considering that this is a strictly content orrientated mod it's a valid question.

I'll let you all know if I have any luck.. Couldn't post this in the Forum cause it was down for some reason.
