Project HDTP is a High Definition Texture Package for the original Deus Ex game. The original in-game textures were of a very low resolution, some textures even being as low as 32x32. However, it was discovered that it is possible to increase the resolution of those textures to a maximum of 256. This has been tested in-game and we have witnessed the start of a massive graphical overhaul. Features: 1. All new remodelled and retextured Objects. 2. Objects will sport a high resolution of 256. 3. Brand new character models and matching high resolution skins. 4. Character models are more individual. For example each guard/trooper type will now have its own model instead of using the generic one. 5. Character models now have their own fingers (removing the 'mittens' effect). 6. Models that require animation will be full animated from scratch to compliment the higher quality feel. 7. Characters look darker and more moody to enhance the game play experience. 8. Vehicle models and weapons...

Description

As referenced on the offtopicproductions thread, this is an installer that was made out of the three beta2 packages. It also includes Kentie's DX9 and DX10 renderers, Chris Donhal's OpenGL renderer, and the OTP UI Interface Fix, and will install those.

I keep getting an error that the publisher couldn't be identified, so windows won't let me open it :(

If it's a newer version of Windows, you might have to go to the downloaded file's properties and "Unblock" it. I have to do that myself (Windows 8.1). It'll say "this file came from another computer, do you want to unblock it" or some such thing on the properties screen. Just click unblock and then Windows should let you run it.

It's Windows 7. I'll try your suggestion and play around a bit with it when I have some time and try to get it going. I'll msg again if nothing works. Thx.

Ok - so I did all that. The problem is with the file itself. It's downloading as an unknown file instead of an executable application. So even when I unblock it, windows doesn't know what to do with it and opens up the "open with" window expecting to me to pick a software program to open it with.
I've redownloaded a few times and no change. Didn't have this issue with the first release.

Smirftsch over at OldUnreal has decided to build the new OpenAL audio renderers for DX :D
They sound amazing, but they are not finished yet. You can grab test versions here Oldunreal.com and follow the progress.
It is almost finished for full release.

I might be a little stupid by asking this, but does this include all 3 Betas of the HDTP mod?

I see in the description that it says 'this is an installer that was made out of the three beta2 packages.'

What does it mean by beta2? I see there is a HDTP Beta 3 on here..?

There was a beta release 1 (the one about 3-4 years ago). This is the second not final release so this is beta2 that is in the installer.

Whoever uploaded the original zips to the HDTP project did a horrible job labeling and naming the files. All three files are "beta 2".

Hope that clears up the confusion.

So then the HDTP Beta 1 + the three zips from the HDTP Beta topic on offtopicproductions are what make up this installer?

The installer is as the description states, plus the desktop jpgs out of HDTP Beta 1.

I'm working on refining the installer. Chief of which is trying to get good default settings for the renderers I packaged in the installer. If people would, please look at the thread here: Offtopicproductions.com and give me some idea if there's some proposed defaults that will not work. Thanks.

Are you using one of the modern Deus Ex renderers? If you are, you need to be sure that DetailTextures=True in the renderer settings and if you are using D3D9 or OpenGL that UseS3TC=True is set as well.

Why is this done so confusingly? You have release 1, and release 2 which is 3 parts of 3 zips each. Am I right? Then you have the Beta Release 2 Installer that was released after HDTP Beta 3... so do I use it for the second release of 3 zips? Or the whole release of 9 zips? Do I have to install all of the releases back to R1 or just the newest one? Is that Beta 3 or 2? WTF? Plus, a trip to your homepage goes to some page not updated since 2008 and that has errors all over it.

I'm not a moron or a noob to making or using mods for games, so I find it ridiculous that it is so poorly labelled and described. I'm not even going to bother trying it out until you clean it up.

All you needed is just the "Beta Release 2" installer. Note: There is a release #3 now. Same deal, all you need is that file.
