Fedora is a Half-Life 2 Total Conversion focusing on an Indiana Jones - style atmosphere and puzzles. You’re sent into a temple to retrieve an idol. Sounds simple? Traps, critters and rolling boulders might make you think otherwise.
The player takes the role of Philip Maxwell Fedora, last of the Fedora bloodline. It's been decades since the mysterious disappearance of his relatives - now 27 years old, Philip finds the notebook of his uncle Thomas. With it the last Fedora has the possibility to find them.
Turns out the entire family has been under an Aztec curse for over twenty years. Henderson H. Fedora, the first of the Fedora family, was cursed when attempting to take a mysterious idol in the temple of Atachualapa and was sealed inside. For generations the Fedora family has been cursed to die in the very same temple.
Philip is throughout most of the game searching for random idols - when he suddenly experiences the effects of the curse - the urge to get to the Atachualapa. There lies the fate of his bloodline, his family and the idol that could save his and his relatives lives once again. But can P.M. Fedora get the idol which so many family members have failed to get? Can he reverse his fate?
In a true adventurer spirit you’re only equipped with a torch and no one is telling you where the idol might be. Temples are huge and freely explorable - full of traps and secrets. In order to exit a temple you must bring back one idol - in each temple there are ten idols.
Featuring virtually no combat (shooing scorpions and snakes off your back with a torch is the closest to it) and a great immersive atmosphere Fedora is going to bring first person puzzle games to the next level.
We've decided to rename the project from Project Fedora to just Fedora (for the sake of simplicity and storyline). Exploration adventure gets deeper this time around when we give you, the reader, lots of hints about the storyline. Also more progress on maps, models and even a picture of the main character!

Enter the Temple of Fates. Enter Fedora.
Alot of the team has been struck by the case of being busy with other things - yet Fedora still lives on and has made some great progress:
Our protagonist, Philip Maxwell Fedora is all in it for business. With the help of some fancy facemaps composed by diwako, the amazing jacket by i_speel_good and incredibly good-looking model by Simkas - the main character truly comes to life! The fedora itself (as in, the hat) is still work in progress and thus not shown yet in this screenshot. Be on the look out for a badass shot with the Fedora hat on!
i_speel_good has made two props for use in Fedora - the torch which you will use throughout the game and the boulder which will cause numerous spinal injuries if one can't outrun it. Both have detailed bumpmapping and the boulder has other neat lighting tricks - unfortunately not shown here as model viewer doesn't like showcasing them.
Namelezz (that's me) has been testing our new team member ZomBuster's amazing wall textures. 2048x2048, self-shadowing bumpmaps, oh my! For this purpose I created a small pool of water in the middle of the map and surrounded the map with the new textures. Turns out the result is quite neat! When he finishes the mossy floor texture we've got that Tomb Raider vibe going on.
MetallicLion is one of our mappers and decided to put his first idol into his map, temple_lion. Result is an ancient Aztec Stone Tablet. Brilliant use of lighting makes the idol stand out in the cold dark temple.
That's a wrap! There's still more into Fedora we haven't told you yet but will reveal soon enough. Until then just hold onto your fedoras!

Is this dead?
hmmmm rolling boulder is from tomb raider
and it looks like tomb raider
Needs a whip :<
Yeah we've been wondering about that - probably not since it's hard partially physics-based implementation and numerous bugs that could occur with it.
Instead we should give the player a ranged weapon to break ropes with appearing as Indy's revolver.
Looks good, tracking, do you have a release date?
Nope, but we're aiming to release this year. If all goes good maybe in the summer!
very cool idea doing an indiane jones inspired mod without using the mentioned character. I always aplaude new and fresh characters. Eventhough everything screams indiana, I couldn't care that it isn't. I just hope it'll have an awesome story line, and goodluck to the project it looks really nice. Fedora himself is quite cool imo.
Thanks, I assure you that the storyline is very interesting.
Fedora model is WIP btw.
Indiana Jones' hat isnt a fedora.
I thought it was known worlwide that Fedora = Jones.
I beg to differ!
