we had something even more similar at the begining, but we decided to change it:

Well, more than bombs it would be cruise missile barrage, and maybe a gauss/mac cannon.
The only thing is that i dont know if it will be a playable unit or only animation, at the beginning it was going to be a playable unit, but canoworms told me he had some problems with that. so im not sure what will it be at the end...
just gotta give my input xd
what if it is a stationary unit (or circles the map)
and it has abilities like bombard and unit drops and they all have cooldowns. while the other team has to destroy it
(or send it into retreat to repair) with one or another thing
(maby have a dedicated tactical aid to damage the cruiser)
thats basically it : p
popped into my head and i got a brain fart of awesomenes ^^
