Portal: Project-Beta
Portal mod | Coming Q4 2010
Project-Beta is a full content mod for Portal. This mod will include, new textures, new models, new particles, and a new story mode. There are 2 Possible endings to the mod. The rest of the information will be shown in progress screen shots and media releases.

It's been a hectic final month, first we recruited KernCore and then pushing for a new Demo/Minimod to be released on time. Well finally after much work I am pleased to bring you our second Demo or what you could call a mod in itself I guess, Project-Alpha.
The goal of Project-Alpha was to get another playable demo out to everyone, while still having some original Portal gameplay. We came to the conclusion that our second Demo should be a minimod in itself and be designed around the trailer version of Portal. Rather than continue to explain what exactly is in Project-Alpha, I will show you a quick video made by one of our testers.

Here is a redone chamber from the original Portal, but designed to resemble and play like the trailer.

I have a burning question that I have been meaning to ask.
Will the portal textures and models and whatnot work with DX8? I see the portal design for P:A and it looks like a modified version of the DX9 portals, and I do not have a DX9 video card, which means I will not be able to see them... I ask this because for the "Tech Demo" that was released, I did not see the new particle system that was included because it did not have a DX8 version, and I had to change the particle filename so that I could see them. Will I be out of luck?
Well in the original plans for PB we were going to support both, but due to recent issues with size and mod complexity we will only be supporting DX9. The thing is, we are in a time where DX9 is the standard and DX10/11 are already out.
For you and everyone else out there on lower versions of Direct X, I think its time to upgrade. Direct X 9 and even 10 cards are being sold at bargain prices, do some research and go buy a new graphics card.
