It's been a hectic final month, first we recruited KernCore and then pushing for a new Demo/Minimod to be released on time.  Well finally after much work I am pleased to bring you our second Demo or what you could call a mod in itself I guess, Project-Alpha.

The goal of Project-Alpha was to get another playable demo out to everyone, while still having some original Portal gameplay.  We came to the conclusion that our second Demo should be a minimod in itself and be designed around the trailer version of Portal.  Rather than continue to explain what exactly is in Project-Alpha, I will show you a quick video made by one of our testers.

Thanks to DZJB for uploading this quick little video.

Here is our entrance Chamber for a better look.

Here is our spike pit, and yes we know people wanted the fire high but that would result in some issues.

Here is a redone chamber from the original Portal, but designed to resemble and play like the trailer.

Before I end this article, I know a lot of you are itching to play, I would like to thank the following people for their support.
Hunterbrute
Caboose Jr
reepblue
CaveJ
Pelpix
KernCore
Snood
1/4 Life
Hen7
Koolfox
Shadowfreak
Omnicoder
DZJB
A.M.M.D.

Once again thanks to anyone else who helped out in any small way, Ill leave you with one last image and then you can go and try our latest Demo.

I've posted a tutorial article on how KernCore did somethings in Portal: Project-Alpha. Feel free to check it out if you are interested. :)

That was pretty fun and fascinating. One of the things I didn't understand is why were the buttons red? In the trailer they were grey. Some map flaws like the light you can see the skybox. But other than that great job :D

I thought of doing the gray buttons, but I preferred the red ones. Keeping the buttons red and the indicators from retail makes them stand out more in the brighter environment, and it just looks much better. I may think about releasing a small patch that makes the indicator strips, the buttons, and the Doorstate markers to what they were in the trailer, but thats probably not going to happen. However if you or anyone else wants to give it a shot and send it to us and we like it, we will gladly add it to the downloads.

They being grey is just the fact that Valve never textured them yet.

Still, it would still help with the beta-feel of the mod. After-all, a beta is the unfinished version of the game.
