What our plans are for 2009 and when we plan to have more playable content released.

Many people have been asking us what our plans are since we delayed Project-Beta, and many people have been submitting ideas from the Portal trailer and asking for a new demo.  Well today I am confirming that we are working on a second Demo.  This demo will not be connected to Project-Beta in anyway, it will still be missing a great deal of content compared to the full mod.

Before I start with some screens I would like to get a few things straight, Project-Alpha is going to be another Tech Demo design, but to be more original it will be designed around the style and look of the Portal trailer.  Many aspects we have found extremely hard, if not impossible to replicate to exact detail.

Recently we gained a few new members to the Project-Beta Team, Omnicoder and KernCore, they have both been a great help with many things.  We have also decided to let KernCore put his mapping skills to the test and create the main maps for Project-Alpha.  Rather than sit here and explain to you what KernCore is doing, I would much rather show you some preview screens of Project-Alpha.

First off here is KernCore's remake of the entrance to the spike pit.

Here is his turret and box room.

The moving stairs as seen in the trailer.

The original chamber 18 from the trailer.

Chamber 16 as seen in the trailer.

Our goal is not to recreate portal, this is just going to be a small demo with some bonus content.  None of the challenges/chambers in Project-Alpha will be featured in Project-Beta.   Thats all I can show you for now, we want to keep this Project under wraps until we are ready for a release.

Cool, if you want the first and second screenshot to look more like the original, lower the lightmap value on the walls.

You guys just need to darken the shadows a bit more on your maps then it would look exactly like the Alpha/beta
