so your using the updated metal lift textures in project beta as well? well, I think they're pretty ugly, personally. That room has too much grey and yellowish tones. An identifying element of BTS areas is the harsh red-metal environment that makes the player feel unsafe, unlike the cool blue testchambers. This is sort of in the middle, not quite as clinical as the testchambers but not as iconic as the bts areas. More metal textures, more props (or maybe bigger ones) and more teasers pls!

Thanks for your comment.

This is just one of the many BTS areas. This one has no metal walls. The concrete walls make it possible to add more wall writings and sprays. On a metal surface, it will not look right. I can agree that I might change the lighting pattern, but however keep in mind your in a different enrichment center with aspects of the beta so not everything will be like the original Portal. As for the pillar texture, that I'm not sure we are keeping or not. We took them out on the last minute before releasing Project-Alpha and no one can conclude that if Valve used a different texture or the same texture with a different reflectivity. So keep that in mind. Thanks again.

I hold a higher preference for the non-chrome pistons due to the fact that it holds true to the Portal teaser trailer. Not to mention the concrete look is almost reminiscent of the hl2 beta, so some of the emotions and awe carry over into this screen shot.

Basically keep going where you are going, you are going in the right direction. :)

I agree (especially with the more teasers!). However, it would be interesting to see how it feels playing in this sort of environment, being something that is really not in the game. I do like that there are some reddish elements so it is not totally neutral.

That aside, I think it is mapped very well.

Description

With the release of Project-Alpha, we have not really shown much after. So I figured it would be nice to share a behind the scene area that is found in the campaign.
