Portal Combat is a modification which combines VALVe's Portal Technology with an unique combat system.
About the main character:
You play an 18-year-old girl, named Cindy, who becomes a test subject for the Aperture Science Enrichment Center after an accident on the freeway. Luckily, Cindy survived it, but at what cost? She had managed to find a building to call for help, but fell unconscious whilst trying. Cindy later awoke inside the Medical Station of Enrichment Center. She didn`t remember anything about her. The only thing she had was a barcode tattoo on her left arm with her name on it. She got offered to apply for Testing. She agreed but when she finds the truth Cindy will wish she never did so.
On year ago, we announced that the development of our project, Portal Combat, was put on hold for an unknown time. It's been some time and you guys might have been wondering what is going on.
The truth is: Absolutely nothing!
It really hurts to say this, but we have decided to pull the plug on this project.
Ever since our development stopped due to lack of dedication on my hand and discrepancies with in the development team, I thought of rebooting the project with an entire new team and a whole new concept.
All these affords, however were proven as a failure and the reboot was canceled before it even started. It's really unfortunate, but I can no longer hold it back from you guys: Portal Combat is dead, forever. The decision was made four month ago, but I just could just not tell you until now, for I was afraid of backlash from the community.
There are several reasons for this unfortunate turn of events, so I will just focus on the significant ones.
The Idea of Portal: Combat began three years ago, when I used to be in 8th grade. I was 13 and knew nothing about development or level design whatsoever. The concept of P:C was way to ridiculous to begin with, for it was made by a 13 year old, that had no clue about anything. I have learned so very much while working on this project and it was a really valuable experience. But I had taken it way to far over the past 2 years. The concept is not realizable, and I was a fool for even thinking this.
Another reason for the failure of this mod, was our management policy. I don't want to get into detail here, but I can assure you that it was a freaking mess.
At this point you are maybe wondering, why I just don't start from scratch and change the concept of the mod. The truth is, that I won't have anytime for that. When I stared with project back in 2008, I used to be in middle school and therefore, I had tons of spare time on my hands. But now, after I graduated, these things have changed. I just have to spend time on more important things.
Again, sorry for disappointing you. This is not just the death of this project, but also my departure from the moddb community. I don't think that you will hear from me again any time soon...
