Earth, 2060. A small group of colonists leaves the ravages of Earth for a distant planet orbiting Alpha Centauri's primary star. Their ship, the United Nations Starship Unity, carries them on their journey to a new world and a new hope for humankind. Along the way a reactor malfunction damages the Unity, precipitating a crisis among the ship's seven most powerful leaders. As they enter the Alpha Centauri system, the crew splits into seven distinct factions, divided not by nationality, but by ideology, and their vision for the new world. After the ship breaks apart, the seven leaders guide their chosen crew down to the surface of Planet, seeking their destiny beneath an alien sky.

This mod has as goal to recapture the atmosphere and story of SMAC, but create an improved gameplay with the tools offered by Civ4.

Why doesn't Desura install version 16 and 16f?

Because Desura doesn't work well installing just any game, I never use it for any games ever!

Erm, I don't want to sound like an idiot but the files are kind of in a confusing order. Do I install the main file and then install the previous patch and then the latest patch or do we not need the patches at all since the main file is the latest file?

I've just tried it. According to the changelogs, you have to install the full version, then the latest patch. You don't need the previous patch at all.

Shouldn't the Barbarians be Mindworms instead?? Then again, is PSI combat possible in CivIV??

Great mod, really amazing work. I bought Civ4 complete just so I could play this mod, and I'm not disappointed. Was bummed that I couldn't get my original SMAC/SMACX to play on linux with Wine, but Civ4/BTS with this mod plays fine. Happily wasting many hours with this, Thanks
