Pirates, Vikings, and Knights II boasts a unique three-team symmetry and a myriad of colorful characters to promote exciting, strategic, and fun gameplay. It features several game modes, each requiring its own special brand of cunning to master. Do battle on a tropical island for control of bountiful treasure. Appease your gods by spilling the blood of your enemies deep within a Mayan temple. Conquer your foes by taking control of precious badlands territory. But most importantly, have FUN!
It's been a wee while since we've put news up, so here it be.
A little problem that's affected PVKII for a while is getting your team to act like a team - to go after objectives, to be aware of enemies, to defend, to protect chest carriers and so on. Part of an ongoing initiative we're expanding on with PVKII's development, what with the new voices and such, is to bring more personality and flavor to the game whilst simultaneously encouraging objective-based teamplay and functionality (and FUN).
We're implementing team-specific Announcer voices to let you know what's going on in-game whether you're in a scrap with some cheeky Pirates or running boldly away from some furious Vikings!
We've called upon some of the mightiest names, the most ferocious warriors from the world of themed metal music. Our Knight team announcer is known as Lord Jaldaboath, Grand Guitarist Inquisitor, Knight of the Keyboard Realms, Officer of Oratory and Sovereign Grand Songwriter General of his gloriously eponymous musical troupe, Jaldaboath.
Listen to them! Buy their things if you like, too!
In other news, PVKII is now on the Steam Translation Servers! This will help keep our translations updated and allow us to add new content more efficiently. If you're interested in helping translate, head on over to the STS Site for more information!
Since 2002 we have explored, played and enjoyed mods of all shapes and sizes just like Pirates, Vikings, & Knights II. We love games like Half-Life 2 that have opened themselves up to modding. Because of communities like Workshop, Nexus, Curse, RTSL, GameBanana and Mod DB, more games support modding today than ever before.
Let's celebrate modding
As mods play a bigger role in the future of gaming, we believe it is important to recognize the effort the teams behind the work put in, giving us countless hours of enjoyment while asking nothing in return. We have the power to change our games and that needs to be celebrated to ensure it remains a big part of PC gaming's future.
It all started
In 2015, when the paid modding dispute left many gamers and modders worried about the direction the industry is headed. Things have since settled down, but we believe it is important to continue this small tradition to show we are not alone in our love for mods, and the open platforms that embrace them.
Mod Appreciation Week
Nothing is more motivating than knowing something you've built is being enjoyed by others. So this week if there is a mod you love on Mod DB (or anywhere else), make the effort to shout out to them, mention and link their mod in a tweet, blog, forum or facebook post with the hashtag #modlove2016 (or click the icons above for a pre-built post).
