Persistence is an attempt to create a free MMORPG for the Source Engine. Many claimed that this was impossible, but an early private alpha suggests otherwise. Persistence is a fantasy MMORPG in a medieval setting. Sounds like any other generic Warcraft clone right? That's where you're gravely mistaken.

Zerratar, our concept artist, has been busy creating some new concept art sure to make jaws drop. It is of an area west of the town of Valour, known as Woodmill Crossing...
The area is supposed to be one of two (or three) large maps that link the town of Valour to the closest village. It is to feature a spectacular waterfall plunging into the sea, some abandoned shacks and an abandoned sawmill like structure. Anyway, I know I have a tendency to ramble on so enough with the talk and more with the pictures!
Here is the sketch of the area, without colour. (Yes I spelt "colour" correctly i'm from Britain).

Anyway, while i'm here i'd just like to say a thanks to the whole development team; everything has really started to come together over the past couple of days. We now have three mappers, a texture artist, a creative writer, a coder and a concept artist! We're still in need of modelers, so if you're interested, please get in touch on our website!

Looks quite promising. My only question is will this be a persistent MMORPG akin to EverQuest and World of Warcraft or will you be able to join games, something more like Diablo?

Hi, sorry we were having some trouble with the web server. Everything should be fixed now though, we've moved over to a new dedicated server in Germany!
