Post news Report RSS Mods going Indie

Warning, the following lines may hurt your wallet (well, not as much as the current steam sales), cause these games were really awsome as a mod…and now they are all going indie.

Let’s see Blade Symphony first. As you may know, the developers who made Dystopia has tried themselfs in other genres, like third person fighting. The mod version for source was so successful, podcast17 cast almost had a heart attack, and the tracking numbers on moddb has gone rogue. So the obvious plan was to:
1: Go Indie
2: Go Steam
3: Profit

The game is currently in „early access” stage, which is kind of a closed beta. You can buy the game, and get the current version, also it’s possible to send feedbacks to the devs and letting them make a game that pleases every player. The game features katanas, shurikens, and breakdancing ninjas…what the hell are you still waiting for?

Second game is called Insurgency. The guys have already set up an indie profile for it, but unfortunatly they have forgot to inform the mod lovers too, and send out some marketing message through the moddb news.
Insurgency was really successful among source mods. They have reached steamworks in a short time, and they still have populated servers, and I'm really proud of them to fuel the esport aspect of the mod too. However this game is awsome, I can only recommend it to real gamer. By real gamers, I mean that your Call of Duty Modern Warfare quickscoping and killstreak BS won’t save you here. The player has to really use tactics and watch those corners, cause the snipers gonna get you...oh they gonna get you.

Third contestant is Perfect Stride. This little mod combined all of the known pro movement styles, and added some 8bit oldschool magic into it. You had to get through a complicated map like in defrag back int he days. This wasn’t enough for the devs though, they had to add skateboards and drugs to it, and they come up with this finally:

Last one is my personal favourite. Some of you may remeber my earlier post about a mod called Naissance. I found the little mod accidently by browsing though Mavman’s site, and some month ago I’ve seen the same name on RockPaperShotgun. My feelings were right, the mod has gone indie too, and mavman already set up an indiedb profile for it, so if you love simplistic but beautiful puzzle fps games, this is what you want to track. No colors, no weapons, just shadows and lights which are playing mindtracks with you all the time.

How about the Stanley Parable? I'm kind of expecting the HD remake to go indie. Maybe hoping is the word...
