Perfect Dark ... This game had an incredible success, but you already know that. This game would deserve one minute of silence, in order to let us remember all the good moments spent in its company. We're trying to recreate all what we loved with using all the power we need provided by the Source Engine. We all dream to make revive this game, with physics and graphics up to date, with keyboard and mouse, with all the weapons and game mod we loved. An incrediblibly old-school gameplay meeting the next-generation requierements! Questions?

The last 18th of February, took place the "Mods Party". In its 3rd edition, that small get together organized by the team at Pmods gave a chance to different modification developers to show off the progression of their work and to talk with other developers. A few of our developers were there and based on what they told us, the party was really interesting and they met sympathetic people. The organizers of the event revealed the winners of the award voting system they had set up on their website: the "Perfect-Dark: Source" mod ended up as the 5th best mod, the 3rd best FPS mod and the 3rd best French mod! A big thank you to everyone who participated!

Throughout the showcase of our mod, some people noticed that our weapons had no sound. The reason for this is simple, those sounds are still in a Beta status! Only to satisfy your ears that are always asking for more, here is, directly from our archives, a small audio artwork realized by Toivo and Pehmu, our two new finland sound workers.

Mavman, one of the missing pieces (there will always be missing pieces!) of our team, is now part of it! Modeller, Skinner and Animator, he will be able to handle a part of the job that needs to be done. He already began:

Talking of maps, they need to be filled with a lot of custom textures if we want them to add a feeling of unique gameplay to the mod. Here are some of those custom textures :

Note: A rumor pretending that the release of the first public Beta version of the mod would have been the last 18th Frebruary was going around. Even if we would have loved to offer you the mod at that date, we were faced with the impossibility to complete the remainning 10% of work in one month. To discard any doubt,

The textures look awsome but the maps are waaaay too N64-ish... They don't look smooth enough for anything of this or the previous generation of games. Work on the maps!!

:/ I set up all those ripped sounds as placeholders, it's better than no sound, and gave the weapons that PD feel. I always wondered why they were missing after a few weeks.

What if you are after a certain look? For example, a map of my house would not have curvey walls and other effects for the hell of it, it would have straight walls and corners.

Remember that Source and other newer engines merely provide tools to developers. You don't use a spanner to unscrew something, you use a screwdriver. Displacements everywhere and props for every wall will work in certain styled maps, while another one might get it's look from using lots of brushwork. Remember what temple looked like? All stone blocks. It would wierd with every HL2 effect on it.

Don't worry, the rest of the maps are just fine in that regard, plenty of props and things.

I agree with Kat, as well as what your saying Lord_Draco. But even so, I think something else to be done to remove the 'HL1' feel of the edgy bits of the map. Besides that, the texture work is really great.
