Penny Arcade : Birds Are Still Weird is a faithful representation of the comic book universe portrayed in the Penny-Arcade comic strip. Players will be able to play as one of their favorite characters in a select number of locations using various weapons to defeat one another. The ultimate goal ? Fun and Frags. This mod was given the green light by creator Gabe (Mike Krahulik)himself!

The mod has been moving along steady with great work from both our Coder J6 and Mapper Lazore! Our first map ( dm_tychohouse ) is in-game and going through layout testing at the moment while our coder J6 adjusts the aiming system.

- NZ, Tube and D20 are in-game and working
- Third Person Camera Adjusted
- Selectable characters Tycho and Gabe ( WiP Rigs & Animations )
- DM_tychohouse map in test

Not much in terms of a big update, and things might get a bit slower but I'll be sure to keep updating every monday with something new. Still lots of models, textures and maps to go while we go through each build. In-Team Alpha by Friday =D

Object Modeller -
We are looking for a simple object modeller for props to import into Hl2dm engine. Knowledge of import/export methods is not required but is a big bonus. ( i.e : lamps, tables, chairs, etc )

Assistant Source Coder -
J6
is doing great work but also with life he's getting a bit busy so an assisstant coder to adjust and maintain the source code available would be great.

Nice news post :) Am a big fan of penny arcade, so will def be looking forward to this. One prob that I could foresee though is the control and handling of the character. From the video it looked liked it was somewhat difficult to properly guide the character through doors. But considering this is just an alpha, it's already looking great! Keep it up :)

This is one of the most consistent and most quickly developed mods around. 'Grats! I'd love to see a lot of video game memorabilia and objects pictured in the comic once you get a modeler for objects. Also, where's the John Romero love lair?

It will be hard of course, but this game would just look sweet with shaders like in Team Fortress 2. Such shaders would fit perfectly with the style.

I don't know how good you are with making such shaders for those models, but if you could, this could very well be one of the best looking mods around. As it is its just good looking.

Oh yeah, i'm definitly looking forward this mod.

Ive got a suggestion. it seems like it might get hard to go thru the small doorways, perhaps some wedge shaped invisible walls that push you into the hole better?

Hrm...since it's a D20 Grenade, why not make it more fitting? The size and damage caused by the grenade could be a random amount between 1 and 20 depending on a roll. Sorta like how MMOs run that kind of thing in the backend. A natural 1 would just kinda fizzle and a natural 20 would do lots of damage.
