Hello, The_Silver. Will this mod allow you to stay on the ground after a shootdodge? I saw this done in the Max Payne mod Katana, and am wondering if that will be included in this mod.

It's not possible to recreate exactly the feature as appears in MP3 or MP1, but in MP2 you can already stay on the ground after the shootdodge simply by holding the fire button, and in my PEvo Mod you always land with full magazine, so actually this feature is already in the vanilla game.

In Katana, you stayed on the ground infinitely if you held the forward movement key. Would this be possible to recreate, or not?

Nope, MP1 and MP2 shootdodges works in a slightly different way.

I believe you are right! If this feature is possible in the Max Payne 2 engine, this would add more action and suspense to its gameplay.

I also think that AndersenTheMuss is wrong about making Max an easier target because staying prone as long as the player wants will give this mod more strategy just like Max Payne 3.

Gameplay is one of the most important part of a game. If you want this mod to look like Max Payne 3, you have to copy Max Payne 3's gameplay as much as possible. :D

Obviously staying prone worked in mp3, as cover was an intergrated part of the game.
Mp2 doesnt do that. Here enemies will run at you and kill you. If u stay prone you'll get shot.
Also i MP3 if you've played on the hardest difficulty setting, you should know prone was useless there aswell as staying down on the ground just lead to the enemies storming and killing you or throwing grenades wich you can't get to dodge cause you have to get up first.

Also the MP1 was simply made by a longer animation, so at some point he would stand up. And it was made to match MP2's lie on floor shooting.

Even if the feature was possible in mp2, i can only see it as making you an easier target for your enemies :P

You actually can stay on the ground after a shootdodge if you keep holding the left mouse button.

Just a thought! :D Is it possible to make the camera zoom in when it detects that Max keeps on shooting here in this mod just like how The Darkness 2 game does when the player is dual wielding and keeps on shooting? Just asking! :D Hoping for the best for this awesome mod!

I already tried but it looks weird and disorienting, the MP2 engine doesn't handle this feature really well, and if it's impossible to fix I will simply scrap it before the release becouse the downsides are far worse than the goods.

Just a thought! I remembered you said Max can only dual wield the second handgun on the weapon wheel. What if you could add another dual wield selection on the wheel in which you can dual wield the first handgun on the list as well. Say you have a revolver and a desert eagle on the weapon wheel, and you can dual wield two desert eagles and also dual wield two revolvers! I think this feature will do better because I think that Max should be able to dual wield either of the two pistols. Of course Max can't dual wield two different pistols at once, but Max should be able to switch from dual wielding two deagles and two revolvers.

So...
There would be five weapon selections on the wheel! :D

Five weapon selection wheel and double dual pistols avaiable? No thanks, if I'm making a MP3 inspired mod I try to make it actually like MP3, and you suggestion is more than a step backward than what I already achieved. The actual system already works well, and it's the closest thing possible using MP2 engine, just wait for the release and you will realize it by yourself.

Max_Payne_3 Oct 27 2012, 2:06am replied:

Let me clear this idea for you.
Gameplay is the key to make this as close to Max Payne 3 as possible. A five weapon selection wheel may not look as close to Max Payne 3 as you would like, but this idea will make your mod closer to its successor (which is of course Max Payne 3). :D If max was able to have two different types of pistols, I think he would have dual wields for each of those guns.
No one wants to keep on replacing the second pistol on the weapon wheel just to change his or her dual handguns.
They would want to be able to wield duals for each of those handguns (the left and the right handguns on the weapon wheel). :D
I hope you would understand this idea and at least consider it. This is just pure constructive criticism. :D

What? Have you played MP3 at all? You ARE able to have two different pistols, and you CAN'T dual wield each of them, you actually HAVE to replace the second pistol to change your dual handgun. So what you want me to do is something NOT possible on MP3, as I said it's a step backward. Now I already answered your brilliant idea, if you insist it's no more "constructive criticism" but just a pain in the ***.

I do think this idea will help you make this mod the most realistic mod for Max Payne 2! :D
I also think you should put handgun holsters for Max's apartment skin. It would look a lot closer to Max Payne 3! :D

So in MP3 when max is in his apartment he wears the shoulder holsters? I really don't think so, also in my mod there's already a jacket-less skin with the shoulder holsters (see the office suit from my PE3 mod) so that's all.

Silver, sorry for answering your requests again, but:
No. As far as I know, you can't detect WHERE a bullet hits in Max Payne 2, and dismembering ( if that's what you're referring to ) works by making a weapon create a projectile that animates an enemy's limb inside his body and then creating a projectile that looks like, for instance, an arm. So if he added this dismembering thing, you would shoot an enemy in the foot and blow his head off, making it look totally stupid, so no ( besides, I don't think this kind of feature would fit this mod at all).

One last thing.
Is there any update about the "over the shoulder" feature that The_Silver mentioned. He said he had an idea of doing something to put some type of OTS aiming.
He also said that he would try it. So, I'm not really hoping for any thing. :D I am just asking if there is any news about that specific topic. Thank you so much! :D

P.S.
Sorry about forgetting to mention this request by editing my past comment. :D

I was able to test that idea enough before my notebook started to crash, and the result is that MP2 engine simply isn't meant for this feature, so I will have simply to deal with that.

I don't think so, with my ****** connection the upload will take much much more than what my pc takes to freeze, so it will crash far before the end and I will have wasted time, but moreover I don't want to publicly release an unfinished mod just becouse I had to delay it, the new pc will arrive in two weeks hopefully so I will surely be able to continue and finish the developement before december.

I'm surprised at the things you were able to do with the Original Engine, and how you were able to get a functioning bullet time system and gun handling system like that of Max Payne 3. I like the little things in the mod, like how you can drink bottles of Kong Scotch and have that 'drunk' effect. Also how Max has periodical flashbacks in certain situations. The "Dead man Walking" feels just like Arcade mode in MP3, and that you took bits from other mods you made like Payne Effects 3 and Max Payne…
