Long ago, when the word 'Hiigara' rang only as a hollow dream, the kiith of Kharak never imagined they would walk the Path to Victory. But, when they reclaimed their Homeworld and proclaimed themselves 'Hiigaran', they believed they had reached their goal. How wrong they were. 150 years after Hiigaran landfall, conflict rages across the Galaxy... Path to Victory is a multiplayer and skirmish mod for Homeworld 2 that adds new units to both Vaygr and Hiigaran Races as well as enabling the Keepers, Raiders and Kadeshi as playable races.

So... why aren't you showcasing the Sobani in their traditional colors?

Because they are flying under command of the Imperial Fleet and not Kiith Soban. Thus, they carry hiigaran colors. If they were flying under the command of Kiith Soban, they would be carrying the traditional red scheme. There are exceptions to this rule (182nd fleet).

Because we're all one Hiigaran fleet, no more segregation, we all fly under the banner and colours of the Empire!

All Kiiths are allowed to fly their colors they do not need uniformity to realise the one world that binds them, the world all kiith would die for. HIIGARA...OUR HOME.

While kiiths are allowed to fly their own colors, they are all essentially part of the Imperial Fleet which mandates a blue/white color scheme.

As long as they are flying under the Imperal Flag, the fleets carry those colors out of resepct to their common homeworld of hiigara.

or that's what he meant, saying that the effect it causes is identical to incindiary weapons

Is this mod Post vagyr war? is there fluff as to why the Hiigarans shapped up into a Imperial power? in Cataclysm the Clans arranged in Hierarchies in political, economical, and military might but all respected the Diamid and all answered the call home the moment Hiigara was in danger :o

Good topic for my next writeup - didn't ever think about that. Yes it is post-vaygr war, set 50 years after the events of HW2. Give me some time and I'll work it into the next update :D

Description

If Noise Shells are the Manaani answer to strike craft, one can expect Kiith Soban to be a little less creative in their weapons... and they are.

Shredder Shells are little more than Flak Shells loaded with more powerful explosives and designed to generate more shrapnel on detonation.

However the lack of engineering finesse in this Sobani technology does not make them any less deadly. Producing searing hot shrapnel that will burn through any armor and ignite atmospheres within pressurised hulls, Shredder Shells make Flak Frigates and Flak Platforms more effective against a variety of targets, most notably fighters and corvettes which often burn up from the inside out.

Some would argue that Shredder Shells are not worth the investment but many a Sobani captain will tell you otherwise. Given Kiith Soban's love for area damage weapons and explosive firepower, a substantial number of Flak weapons can be expected to be firing in any Sobani fleet.

Making these weapons more effective against a wider range of targets is arguably more important in the grand scale of kinetic barrages as the chance they will be used against a specific target diminishes considerably.

As with most Sobani tech, Shredder Shells are virtually useless when used alone. However when combined with the firepower of an entire Sobani Warfleet, these incindiary bursts add that little edge in firepower that can kill enemy strike craft attacking your precious and lubering capital ship phalanx just a little bit faster.

This completely ignores the Hiigaran High Council's ban on incindiary weapons being used in combat. Obviously Sobani Engineers claim that Shredder Shells are not of an incindiary nature; the detonations simply superheat the shrapnel already present in the shell. The effect of burning up any oxygen the fragments come in contact with is, of course, identical.
