Long ago, when the word 'Hiigara' rang only as a hollow dream, the kiith of Kharak never imagined they would walk the Path to Victory. But, when they reclaimed their Homeworld and proclaimed themselves 'Hiigaran', they believed they had reached their goal. How wrong they were. 150 years after Hiigaran landfall, conflict rages across the Galaxy... Path to Victory is a multiplayer and skirmish mod for Homeworld 2 that adds new units to both Vaygr and Hiigaran Races as well as enabling the Keepers, Raiders and Kadeshi as playable races.

basically, that was the number of torpedo tubes that I ended up modeling. There wasn't really any more thought to it

Damn, this is awesome. It's the equivalent of a nuclear sub in space.

Are the individual missiles stronger than the individual missiles of a torpedo frigate? And are the pulsar turrets for anti-fighter work, or for whatever gets close enough?

torpedoes do roughly 40% more damage than a destroyer's torpedoes and launch in one burst which takes 20 seconds to reload. Very high up-front DPS vs. capital ships and will outright oneshot basically every frigate ingame.

Pulsars are really just there for the fun; they're not actually very useful at all. The cruiser requires smaller ships to keep any serious threat away from it.

I just noticed the angled secondery team color bar across the whole ship. Nice shoutout to the older Dustwars concept art.

Description

With the First Galactic War on the verge of Outbreak, the Hiigaran Imperial Fleet sought an alternative solution that would allow the massive Empire to engage enemy capital ships far more cost-efficiently and without the need of considerable support fleets working together. Eyes were turned on the long-discarded LAZARUS project; a smaller chassis with heavier plating and incredible single target firepower. Supported by Kiith S'jet and funded primarily by Kiith Nabal the LAZARUS project was restarted with a new goal: Produce a next-generation capital ship hunter capable of operating autonomously and far from allied support.

The Result of this project was the Lazarus Class Cruiser. Built off the original LAZARUS hull, the Lazarus Cruiser has been substantially modified. All Ion Cannon systems were replaced in favor of a much cheaper and cost-effective 12-tube torpedo battery. The original Point Defence cannons were scrapped and two Pulsar Turrets were added, reminiscent of the Archangel's defense setup which proved successful in combat. Finally, with the heavy power requirements of the Ion Cannons removed, Kiith S'jet was able to design an advanced cloaking system specifically for the Lazarus, capable of projecting a distortion field over nearby ships.

An improved Drive System engineered by a Somtaaw/S'jet combined effort was installed, granting the Lazarus unusually high acceleration for a ship of its bulk while keeping heat emmisions at a bare minimum. Further internal systems such as a Docking Bay, improved combat electronics and mountings for the S'jet's prototype ICARUS power core staples the Lazarus as the most advanced traditional combat vessel in the Imperial Fleet to date.

Recent combat trials have shown that the Lazarus' ability to operate for extended periods without support from the hiigaran main fleet makes it an ideal candidate for long range patrol and interdiction operations while still maintaining a front-line combat ability due to its heavy armor.
