Long ago, when the word 'Hiigara' rang only as a hollow dream, the kiith of Kharak never imagined they would walk the Path to Victory. But, when they reclaimed their Homeworld and proclaimed themselves 'Hiigaran', they believed they had reached their goal. How wrong they were. 150 years after Hiigaran landfall, conflict rages across the Galaxy... Path to Victory is a multiplayer and skirmish mod for Homeworld 2 that adds new units to both Vaygr and Hiigaran Races as well as enabling the Keepers, Raiders and Kadeshi as playable races.

(rephrased for clarity)

They don't capture like the raiders and while they are fully capable of hit and run, the Manaani have no issues fighting a stand-up fight over prolonged periods if must be. The difference is in part their tactics but that's only half of it. This will become clear when I manage to present the other combat kiith (soon - I hope).

Manaan focuses on individually valuable ships that can either work alone or in small groups - or in large groups - as their needs vary. This makes them uniquely flexible as they can adopt a large number of tactics effectively. The only tactic they can't really handle well is large fleets of capital ships.

BCs and Carriers are now on one cap for the hiigarans and the Manaani can not build battlecruisers - meaning they loose a lot of capital class firepower up front but make up for it with their mobility and flexibility; they just don't require a supercapital combat ship.

Overall, Manaan dislikes area damage, preferring precice weapons and calculated strikes. They don't tend to waste ammunition, ships or much of anything if it can be avoided. This is also the primary reason why they prefer fighting at close distances: more of their shots count; less waste.

Description

For the longest time Kith Manaan was viewed as little more than a ragged band of dishonest nomads; a reputation brought with them from the desert prison of Kharak. This prejudice however could not be farther from the truth. While secretive by nature and not always welcoming of strangers, Kith Manaan adhers to an ancient code passed down from generation to generation, from Father to Son until this very day.

Many would say that the Migrants have no place in the hiigaran fleet, that they are not warriors and unfit for fighting. This may have been true in the ancient days of Kharak but as the Exiles have evolved, so have the migrant Manaani.

What were once nothing more than scattered nomads are today an integral part of the Empire. Crewing deep space carrier groups and generally operating far from home for as much as years on end, returning only to re-supply and re-fuel their carrier fleets, the Migrants are critical to the Empire's survival.

Patroling the borders of Hiigaran space and providing security to those who are ill at ease so far from solid rock, the Manaan have earned a unwelcome respect among the Kiithid. It is not only their joy of speed, adventure and their lack of a place they call home that make many a Hiigaran question the Migrants.

It is their very combat tactics that make them so unique among the Hiigarans. While Kiith Soban - making up the bulk of the Imperial Navy - teach to fight honorably and with overwhelming firepower while looking your foe in the eyes, the Migrants often employ dubious tactics and rely on mobility, accuracy, secrecy and sudden killing blows to decimate their foes before they have time to fight back.

Despite such a conflicted reputation, Imperial Fleet Command would be in no place to maintain security across such a large empire without the dedicated support of the Migrants. As such, Kith Manaan is accepted as an integral - though often disliked - part of the Imperial Navy.
