Long ago, when the word 'Hiigara' rang only as a hollow dream, the kiith of Kharak never imagined they would walk the Path to Victory. But, when they reclaimed their Homeworld and proclaimed themselves 'Hiigaran', they believed they had reached their goal. How wrong they were. 150 years after Hiigaran landfall, conflict rages across the Galaxy... Path to Victory is a multiplayer and skirmish mod for Homeworld 2 that adds new units to both Vaygr and Hiigaran Races as well as enabling the Keepers, Raiders and Kadeshi as playable races.

You really make the sea creatures, because this is the sperm-whale.
Nice ship.

I sort of noticed that after the ship was done. It wasn't intended in any way, just happened to turn out that way. And thanks :)

I saw that concept and while I like it, it's a little tooo insectish for the kadeshi style I've been using so far. But who knows? I may remake the destroyer - haven't decided.

To be honest I think you should swap the names back, I mean the battlecruiser just looks so badass and avatar doesnt really seem apt for it

Quite a nice looking destroyer. I like the way you have given every capital ship some sort of swarmer support through docking bays, it really emphasises how important the kadeshi see swarmer as =)

That was something I discussed with IPS yesterday. The plan is to build the kadeshi around the swarmer.

The swarm faction will use them as their main fleet arm with everything else supporting them. They'll be able so split their 'swarm' into smaller swarms but each group will require at least one capship or podship to function.

The capship faction builds around frigate swarms and capships with swarmers providing covering fire for the capships - again this justifies them having docking bays. The capship faction doesn't spread out well and their swarmers are not very efficient when alone.

I have one of the previous versions installed, do I need to remove anything in order to get the newer version working?

Best to remove all old files and copy the new ones in. Will avoid errors. Though theoretically you can copy all the new ones over the old ones and it *should* work.

Is this gonna be the Templar?

Because Crusader would be cool too. ^^

Crusader? Not a bad name either. Will give that some thought ;)

I can picture a blue phase cannon array on the front. Maybe as some sort of special ability or a desperate last second ability. :P just a thought ;)

It's a broadside vessel? Interesting... are those prongs along the bottom useful, or just visual additions? I would only suggest two things: looking at the engines again, and making the inner part of the docking head a dome instead of flat. It certainly is a more interesting role than many combat ships though, long range fire support and repair facility.

You lost me on the prongs along the bottom. I think the head does need some minor adjustments.

The role it fulfills is fairly similar to what the Hiigaran BC or Keeper Harbinger (Dreadnaught) is in ptv. I decided every race needs at least one long range fire support ship in there somewhere to avoid battles getting 'stuck'.

With the prongs I think he meant the Missiles.

if that is the case then yes, they disappear when the missiles are fired like all the other missiles in the game.

I like it, I get more of a 'horseshoe crab' vibe from it than sperm whale but either is fine.
It seems an odd shape to have the 'broadside' behavior though, what advantage does it have in doing so?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote

Mainly, bringing its guns to bear and avoid pointing the vulnerable docking bay towards the enemy.

I know it's a bit odd but I really wanted a kadeshi broadside vessel and backwards facing gun turrets seemd perfect for that.

Fair enough, I can see how that would work.

These Kadeshi ships you've modeled make me wish those spike-tails could be segmented and animated, so you could get a true 'swimming' motion with them.

Very nice design! Seems to be the missing evolutionary step between swarmer and mothership lol.

Also the top pic looks like a **** trail coming out of something nearly phallic

Description

Presenting the new Kadeshi Templar (seeing as the old one was renamed to Avatar). This vessel is a destroyer class support ship.

Armament: 10 Missile Tubes, 2 Heavy Plasma Cannons

So, what's special about it? First off, it goes broadside to engage its targets and is the only kadeshi ship with heavier side than front armor. It's designed to pummel enemy fleets from afar and does not fare terribly well when engaged up close - generally due to its bad turret coverage and lack of anti-fighter weapons.

It also has a small swarmer and pod docking bay allowing this ship to keep the Swarm repaired and armed at all times. Like all kadeshi capital ships, it's best to keep swarmers and pods nearby to fend of enemy strike craft, corvettes and frigates.
