Long ago, when the word 'Hiigara' rang only as a hollow dream, the kiith of Kharak never imagined they would walk the Path to Victory. But, when they reclaimed their Homeworld and proclaimed themselves 'Hiigaran', they believed they had reached their goal. How wrong they were. 150 years after Hiigaran landfall, conflict rages across the Galaxy... Path to Victory is a multiplayer and skirmish mod for Homeworld 2 that adds new units to both Vaygr and Hiigaran Races as well as enabling the Keepers, Raiders and Kadeshi as playable races.

interesting that you mention this, I was mulling over future Homeworld installments notably ones that dealt with short storylines for each kiith from landfall to the Vaygr war and each kiith had its attributes, what do you think about them?

The Nabaal would excel at repairing and building their Ships at a faster pace. but weapon damage would be cut 25 percent.

Sjet of course would have highest research speeds and the most advance tech but half the military might of the Soban. they are the original developers along side the Nabaal of the Hiig Super carrier :D (just my own thought I dont know the specifics in your mod)

The Soban would be considered as the most militarily devout of the Kiiths, able to bring significant fire power as well as skirt the edges of battle and undercut enemy forces. they are able to build up to Battle cruiser class that hyperspaces in and do not have extensive production slots ( I do not know if you can change Kiith by Kiith Basis on how ships enter the game, I figured the Soban would Hyperspace in reinforcements rather than build them on the spot)

The Manaan would have faster ships with exceptional Scanner ranges, while the scanner ranges are far seeing they are not as accurate as Sjets, their armor is also half as strong as the average naval force in the Hiigaran fleet little change in weapons. their ships reach up to specialized frigates that are versitile in battle but cannot sustain extensive engagements.

The Paktu would have the most production slots without enhancements able the field the most forces but no improvements to armor or research speeds

:o

This is unnervingly similar to the system I've implemented (though I've done things a little differntly due to the way HW2 works).

I'm really looking forward to presenting the kiith system. Hopefully it will be ready soon =D

Aye, in the mod release for AUG 10 I figure you can sway what ships you get and utilize via research trees, I'd hope there was a method where researching two Kiith specializations would negate the rest and then you climb the tree from there :P

Lol, he made it up on the spot, using the history of each kiith as a basis for their attributes. I wouldn't necessarily agree with the breakdown of each kiith, but it's an interesting idea none the less.

From reading the manuals, books, playing Cata HW1 and 2 you can draw from these, in fact the Old HW1 manual gives details that allude to the philosophies of each Kiith :p

Oh, you mean from back in the day where the manuals were awesome and sometimes in color? Damn, I miss those days, instead of this stupid 3 page max manuals.

Fret not! There shall be a many-page manual (in a P2V colour scheme) on the cards once I'm on holiday. With added floss! ;)

well I'm sure he's not going to add a Hiigaran race for each Kiith...so how its implemented and undertaken is to be seen :-p

Im sure just as the Kadesh have their faiths, and Vaygr their doctrines, Hiigarans will have their Kiiths. but there are more Kiths then there are Ship classes. I'd Guess Nabaal are utilities, Soban strike frigates and some capitals, S'jet with Carriers and modules, Manaan with strike craft and light frigates, and Paktu who are well rounded :p but thats just me, I have no idea what mololu is doing.

Description

Well it's no longer April 1st so I can resume posting with people actually taking me seriously. Okay, okay that was lame.

I really have a lot of things I'd like to show you but none of them are quite final yet so I'm kinda... unable... to present them in all their glory.

On another note the originally described Hiigaran tech system (see 4 or 5 updates ago) has been reworked. A unified Imperial Hiigaran fleet is a bit too... unified... and does not fit Path to Victory's gameplay.

Instead you will now be making a choice regarding production and one regarding strategy with your kiiths meaning each hiigaran fleet can have one combat and one support kiith. What ships you gain access to depends on the combination of these two kiith 'slots'.

I'm sorry for everyone who was hoping to play a singular hiigaran fleet; it simply doesn't work in practice and results in either a very boring or an utterly overcomplicated tech tree. Given this utterly destroys gameplay, the hiigarans will be a little more limited in their final implementation.

But for now, enjoy the fireworks until I can present this system to you in more detail.
