Long ago, when the word 'Hiigara' rang only as a hollow dream, the kiith of Kharak never imagined they would walk the Path to Victory. But, when they reclaimed their Homeworld and proclaimed themselves 'Hiigaran', they believed they had reached their goal. How wrong they were. 150 years after Hiigaran landfall, conflict rages across the Galaxy... Path to Victory is a multiplayer and skirmish mod for Homeworld 2 that adds new units to both Vaygr and Hiigaran Races as well as enabling the Keepers, Raiders and Kadeshi as playable races.
Far, far away from anything but ice, rocks and debris the Ice Fields Research Station is a home away from home for anyone travelling the ice fields, civilian or serviceman alike. Of late this station has become abandoned, left by its former Hiigaran crew who feared the coming of the great Kadeshi Swarm.
What was once used to marvel at the natural wonder that was the Ice Fields and study the creatures living in this freezing solitude is now the centerpiece of any battle in the Ice Fields. The powerful comms array and docking bay capable of accepting fighters and coevettes would be a useful addition to any army.
The question is: Do you want it for yourself or should it be put to the torch on priniple?

Agreed. For now it's a temporary model for the next release. You'll get a better version in future along with a few other new map objects as promised ;).

Add some pipes and gangways that are coming out of it, leading into a ifferent sector. That'll be cool
hmm, what if you make the ice transparent with some snowish spots on the corners and with some metallic rooms and hallways inside the ice hulk.
Transparency will be a biit of a problem in HW2. The game doesn't like alpha much... but I like the idea. My thoughts for the finished station were to make a boxlike center which basically fills up the entire ice block, then add ice segments around it so it looks like the ice was hollowed out and the station built into it.
I like the pipe idea, possibly the base could be several 'compartments' built into the ice block? All of them connected somehow, with the hangar in the center?

I've always wondered at the possibility of Building Modules on Asteroids in HW2;
1- Take over the Neutral asteroid with Inf/Marine Frigs,
2- Build Production facilities on asteroid (Stirkecraft only?),
3- Build Defence subsystems, (that concept art Turret Frigate?),
4- Build AoE stuff; Fire Control/sensors etc.
5- Keep it!
I have no idea if these things are possible but keep mentioning them on various HW2 mod sites in the vain hope that someone will try it/tell me it's impossible.
Possible it is but it will be very tricky to implement.
My idea was there are certain objects that benefit a specific race - meaning that race can build stuff on it but others can't (easier to implement).
It isn't in today's 005 release but the next version will have 1-2 such objects on a trial basis to see how they work out.
Ah so I finally got onto the Ice Fields.
Tell you what that station came in handy for my Shifters against that Swarm
and I finally got the choke point I've dreamed of!
