Am I the only who can't get this ****** embedded video player to play the actual video? I press the "Play" button, sit and wait for 2 minutes, but nothing happens.

Thank you for uploading it to YouTube at least.

You should let off a lower bass sound (Like the sound slowed down more but still audible) the second the explosion rises, after which you hear the real explosion.

(The last sound heard in the vid)

Just wonder if that sounds better... not really... telling you what to do.

Yep. The sound's got to be worked on a bit more. And we're also giving the sky a kind of radioactive look after the first explosion.

The explosion sound is heard seconds after the big BOOM like in reality.Nice one.

The boom wasn't that big, also I was kind of expecting more of a shockwave, like...some game had.

Can't exactly remember which one it was...

But visually it looks good. The boom was kind of weak for me, so it's good to hear you're working on the sound more.

The sounds are still Half-Life's defaults, they could use some more work imo. Nonetheless, really loving the nuke effect!

The only pure HL sound on this video is the siren. While the blast is also a HL sound, it was editted. And the low-pitched boom that goes off after the bright was taken from a nuclear explosion video (and then mastered, so it would sound better).

Definately need better explosion sounds. The effects look nice though. Just made the smoke stay a long time and slowly lose its form and fade at the end.

The smoke IS NOT supposed to stay any longer than that. Crossfire is a MP map, if it durated any longer it would affect the gameplay because of its color correction and fancy effects.

would be awesome to have a similar thing in the singleplayer campaign. multiplayer concerns are not the case there so the cloud could either linger or dissipate if some strong wind was coded. probably a challenge to make the mushroom behave accordingly, but i believe in your abilities :)

Description

NOTE: This is a sneak peak to the Nuclear Update, which is going to be shown day 16 and 23.

Back in the day, things were way more simple. It was just a flash and then suddenly, everybody was dead. Looking at it, it sounds pretty casual, but for the time, the sound of an airplane flying right above your head, followed by a flash (supposedly from an atomic explosion) proved to be a terryfing experience to certain players. As the time passed, it got from terryfing to casual.

Today, things aren't as simple as they used to be. A flash followed by an explosion sound wouldn't cover what could be a nice-looking nuclear explosion. We decided that we should try making an actual explosion, and we came up with this nuke.

Thanks to a bit of thinking, this nuke will never look the same. It can look similar to other explosions, but it will always vary either on shape, thickness, height or mushroom size. Just so you know, this nuke is NOT 2D. It was a sort of long process in the making, and took some tries to get it right.

And yes, everything's in-game, including the color correction.
