Opposing Force 2 is an ambitious Half-Life 2 modification that focuses on making an unnofficial sequel to Gearbox Software's award winning game: Opposing Force. As many gamers think of Opposing Force as one of the greatest FPS games ever, modders making a sequel is an obvious possibility. Although many have tried and failed this project has come further than anyone else's and seems to have a bright future.

The game takes place in the Seven Hours War aftermath. Fighting against blood shedding synths and frightening aliens, Adrian Shephard has to struggle his way with his fellow comrades from the Phoenix Command, with the main objective of stopping the construction of a Combine Citadel. In his journey he will find what has happened to the world, six months after the Seven Hour War.

The team has been busy and right now finishing Opposing Force 2 on our own is unfeasible. We're going to release all of our assets (including models, textures, sounds, maps and map files, documentation, the source code and the game as it is) that we've produced up until now on Github. We hope that you understand from this "alpha" release that we have worked hard but ran into our own personal projects and can't focus solely on the modification anymore. This release comes before mid July.

Regarding the future of OF2 we plan on making this a collaborative project & work with our fans towards a full release. If we went with this approach anyone would be able to contribute with any sort of content. Even fans not familiar with game development could pull requests to get stuff added, which would really allow us to engage the community.

That sucks, in HL1, along with OP4, you were able to carry up to 150 shells in reserve.

They were the idea of Gearbox, that's why they where cut out by Valve and didn't came up in Blue shift (except as an Easter egg) and there is really no need for that amount of weapons. We will be running around with 3-4 powerful guns (AR2, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, Magnum) and rarely really use the others, trust me. There is no need for the Spore Launcher, The shock roach, I think we don't really use the barnacle too, only for puzzles. Also: Why there is a magnum and a desert eagle, when in the original OF the desert eagle substituted the magnum. Same with the crossbow and the sniper rifle. Stay with the rifle and cut out the crossbow, there is no need for two of the same weapon (Crossbows are for HEV suited physicists anyway) If you noticed, we have much fewer weapons in Half-Life 2 then 1 and it ads to the reality factor.
I don't know if you take my advice, but at least think about it.

P.s.: In the description of Player-Used Weapons, you wrote the knife twice. Delete the one before the Displacer

In OF1, you could get all of the HL1 weapons plus the OpFor weapons by impulse 101. So that's why there's a magnum and a desert eagle, a crossbow and a sniper, etc etc etc.

And thanks for pointing the mistake out. Just fixed that.

Oh, and about the barnacle, no, we won't cut that, it's done already, and the game focuses on it most of the time, unlike OpFor 1.

Yea, dont cut the barnacle, it has to be used, dont tell me that it was useless in OpFor. It fact it was one of the things that made OpFor even better then Hl1! And also, the other guns wont be useless too, if you dont put ammo everywhere like in HL2, where there was so much of it, that you didnt even have to use the weaker weapons... Better make it with less ammo like in OpFor or HL1. The special guns made sense there, because you had to use them in order not to run out of ammo...

The barnacle should be to Adrian Shephard as the Gravity Gun is for Gordon Freemen. The barnacle was the original long range head crab killer.
