Operation Serpent is a total conversion for Wolfenstein 3D using the ECWolf source port. Set in a fictional Central American country in the 1980s, Operation Serpent resembles no Wolfenstein mod ever made before or since. Operation Serpent is a tour de force of ECWolf's capabilities, with seven enormous levels (180x180 tiles, or over a quarter mile on a side!), seven weapons, a huge cast of over 13 human and nonhuman enemies, environmental hazards, switch puzzles, and features never before seen in a Wolfenstein mod. These are no ordinary Wolf3D maps--each is an adventure with an overarching concept and location, distinct from every other map. Operation Serpent also features an all-original heavy metal soundtrack performed by guitar wizard Shane Strife and composed by him and diehard metalhead Bashe, written in the style of '80s speed metal giants like Grave Digger, Forbidden, and Metal Church.

Check this exceptional mod out today. The developers have many things to be proud of with their weapons selection, level design, and classic gameplay that they are offering to the players.

Plot: You are battling a Pinochet-esque regime in Latin America, you play a female commando who is tasked with gathering intelligence and bringing the regime's secret projects down.

My take: You'll get lost now and then, and I'm not a heavy metal guy by any means. So I disabled the soundtrack. Aside from that, I'm hooked. I want to play more levels by these guys. Check this out.

For a Wolf-style mod this is a very nice piece of work. The attention to detail in all things (small and large) is often evident. I love the 'oversized' levels as I am not used to playing anything beyond 64x64 and nothing felt overdone. I respect mods that showcase new ideas or concepts rather than just throw them akimbo at a player. Very well done!

Let me just list the most important aspects:
1) Takes advantage of the advanced ECWolf features.
2) Furnishes complex, eye-candy levels which are fun to play.
3) Difficulty level is well balanced.
4) Reveals very gradually so as to keep the player interested.
5) Gunfights are epic.
6) OST rocks.
7) I have listed even more reasons to play OS on my blog (in Polish) - Gameowerkupserower.wordpress.com

This mod addresses almost every issue I had with the original Wolfenstein 3D, save for the tedium of looking for secrets. I like it! :D
