Multiplayer Beta Release Q1 2014 Cancelled

Our plan to bring you the multiplayer beta of Operation Black Mesa early this year didn't work out, regrettably. Several factors and circumstances forced us to completely keep it under the hood until further notice.

Multiplayer Progress

Multiplayer will feature classic maps such as Yard, Crossfire and Boot Camp as well as brand-new ones like Deptcharge and Gambit from day 1.
Currently in development: CTF mode and weapon placement.


Singleplayer Campaign

Development is running smoothly; those NPCs aren't going to animate themselves though! If you're interested in joining our team, check out the jobs page where you can find all positions currently open. We look forward to welcoming you on board!

We've been given the option of developing our projects as full indie titles to be sold on Steam!

Funny. Lost Alpha, Missing Information, Black Mesa, Operation Black Mesa... All these mods are always being delayed, some of them already took almost (not yet, but almost) a decade to make... It`s actualyy pretty annoyoing that developers jump higher than their head and cannot consider time things will take adequately.

Meh, we're not getting paid for this, nor do we really owe anything to the public by rights. We are doing this out of our love for the original game AS BEST WE CAN GIVEN OUR RESOURCES AND LIMITED TIME IN OUR LIVES, and we would like to see it re-envisioned into today's day and age as best we possibly can achieve!

We cannot guarantee that times we give can be kept up-to, nor could we ever have imagined the sheer amount of work that is required to get a Beta in a release ready state. Believe you me, if we could get it out faster, we would, but we can't, so we won't.

None of us really have any proper professional industry experience here in terms of release schedules, and as such for myself this is a total first experience.

I don't personally see why it's annoying, as these things happen, and they cannot be helped?

The only reason that this happens to so many other mods, is because their developers are in the same modding boat as us.

Should I feel like a bad developer? Cause I do now... >.>

Anybody with considerable mod/developing experience knows or can understand this. I think people get confused when they see modders push AAA-tier work and start thinking modders have AAA-tier resources and time.

If this was everyone's job and didn't have to worry about keeping a roof over their heads, I'm sure we could have met the milestone no problem.

This particular deadline has proven itself counterproductive and we intend to steer clear of any further ones for the time being, I'm afraid.
