Media Release 2015

Hi there and welcome to this year's first and, oddly enough, singular update!
There's a lot to talk about, so let's get right to it:

First off, we'd very much like to apologize for the lack media releases on our part. While we did intend to focus more on the actual task at hand and spend less engery on presenting it, we didn't expect things to get so busy and found ourselves pushing our updates further and further.
As many of you may have noticed, our website is currently down. That's mainly due to technical and usability issues. We are however setting up a new forum and hope to interact more with you guys once that's up.

NPC Recruit Operation Black Mesa: Recruit

But, and this comes from the whole team: We are very thankful and touched to see so many of you being as excited as ever, hanging in there, showing your support and even boosting us into the top 100 on MOTY albeit having heard and seen nothing for almost 2 years. It really means a lot to us and it's a great reassurance that a lot of folks want this mod to exist as much as we do. A big thanks to all of you; keep being awesome!

Status Update

So, what's the status on Operation Black Mesa and Guard Duty?
They are both being worked on with full energy and equal priority.

Guard Duty is being developed as DLC / expansion for the bigger and more content-heavy Operation Black Mesa, so it won't require an extra greenlight campaign. So if you are especially interested in Guard Duty, be sure to check on Operation Black Mesa; we report on both mods side by side as they are very close together in terms of progress.

As a token of us being very much alive and kicking as ever (or early Christmas presents if you will), enjoy the rest of our previews:

The Other question of this MOD:

A:Can HECU Marines or Black OPS Throw Grenade to player?
(Some marines equip shotgun or MP5 can do this in original game)

B:Compare with HL2,the Accuracy of friendly NPC(whether Security guards or Marines), will it improved?

C:Will Enemy or friendly find cover when they're engaged?

Let me try to answer them:

A: As you could see on our "DEV.BLOG AI presentation" video, NPCs can throw grenades back to the player.

C: We'll try to improve the AI/NPCs, making the enemies smarter and your combat more dynamic than the original Opposing Force.

So, concerning the HECU AI. Will the marines be able to

A: Climb ladders (An NPC's natural enemy)

B: Be able to pick weapons up off of the ground like the citizens do in Half-Life 2?

C: Have HECU marines be able to progress with you. IE: You meet the two marines who were digging the tunnel. Latter on, in the same chapter, you abruptly leave them behind because of a ladder(See above). No dialog or scripted sequences to show why they don't follow you into the voltigore nest. Another example is the level with the Gargantuan on the dam. If you manage to save the two marines who are wasting ammo on the Garg, by blowing said Garg, and then killing two shock troopers who teleport behind them, they don't comment on the hole on the dam. They don't follow you in, they just stand there. In OBM I would like to see this fixed, for your team to at least show why they wont follow you, of to fix them and allow them to progress with you.

Please answer all of my questions, and the community looks forward to this great looking modification for the Source Engine.

We try to make them to be able to avoid and work with obstacles very well. Although, for many reasons, we have to make some restrictions as well, because they are not meant to go with you throughout the whole game and there must be a point, where certain HECU comrades just cannot proceed with you anymore.

I noticed the Displacer has only one trigger, but two functions. That primary one probably launches the ball which destroys targets, but what button teleports you to Xen and back?

The same button, you just hold it longer to charge the gun ;)
