Operation Black Mesa is a total Source conversion of Half Life: Opposing Force.

Half-life: Opposing Force is still an amazing game, although its not nearly as amazing as it was when it was released. Using the Source engine, the developpers plan to recreate the Black Mesa research Facility as it was seen by Corporal Adrian Shepard of the H.E.C.U.

VALVe Software originally had plans to port Half-life: Opposing force into the source engine (announced at E3 2004) much like they did Half Life: Source, but after seeing the results of Half life: Source the Operation Black Mesa devteam decided that it wouldn't be worth the wait, and thus took the task into our own hands.

A list of features planned for the final release:

» Complete re-creation of all 12 chapters from the original.
» Models that push the limits of the Source Engine.
» Multiplayer, including Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch with all the original levels fleshed out.
» New voices, sounds, and visuals to truly immerse you in the Black Mesa incident.
» Level Design tweaks to utilize the advanced physics engine introduced in Half Life 2.
» A remixed soundtrack including enhanced music from the original along with all new ones.
» Extended Single Player experience, with new areas and new monsters filling in gaps left in the original.
» Immersive scenes that make you really feel for the employees of the Facility.
» CTF may be included, But not in early releases.

Well the time has finally come for the Operation Black Mesa team to unveil our first official media release and a long overdue one at that. The Operation Black Mesa mod has only been in development for about 5 months now and we have been very busy since our start. Quite a while ago we merged with a French team with the same goal in mind to recreate the hit classic Opposing Force, this merge proved to be a great opportunity and has helped our mod grow exponentially.

So for our first media release we would like to kick it off with some shots of the melee weapons, the "Ka-bar combat knife" modeled by Hurz, and the "Pipe wrench" created by Samuel . Now we would also like to show some of our maps of which we have the chapter “The Package” by seldoon182, and “Friendly Fire” by Gunner. And of course what media release would be complete without some good concept, so we are showing a concept drawing of Otis drawn by our very own ZitaX.

We are also in the midst of developing new forums and continueing development on our website which are constructed for the most part but not yet ready just yet so we will still use our current forums for now. We are also still looking for talented members to join our mod and help us grow and prosper. And of course do not forget to drop by our current forums and support our mod.

Hope you enjoy what we have to offer and stay tuned in and wait for more as this is just the tip of the iceberg for this growing project.

The name came around because of our merge with "back to black mesa" our origional name was operation mesa, and we found a blend of both names sounded best. We dont curently plan on changing the name

The name is not the best indeed (it could have been "Invasion of Black Mesa"), but I think it's good enough!
-That Drill Sergeant concept art is really cool.

Oh, and HL and OP4 (/ Operation Black Mesa) take place in 1998.

I really think you should rename this mod from operation black mesa. Black Mesa source has been around for ages now and this name could cause confusion. Good luck though anyway!

Oh yeah, Since Opfor takes place in 2010 it needs the Marines to wear Marpat camofloge.

Heh, don't worry I thought the same thing when I saw it, I only found out after I asked him about it... As for the logs and stuff you'd have to contact seldoon or zim, since they have the models and have tried the compile.
