Information:

"One Night in Mortario Motel" - The location is an odd little town in which the protagonist passes through to get home. One night, you are driving home only to have your car break down. Your house is a 4 hour long walk from the city, so you decide to stay in a nearby motel. Little did you know that people check in, but never check out of the Mortario Motel.

Mod status:

I won't release too much information on the mod itself, enemies, levels, effects, storyline and puzzles. Expect several updates just to tickle your imagination of what will happen. The mod will provide several hours of interesting and scary singleplayer gameplay. We started work on the mod roughly around the middle of January and I don't have an approximate release date.

Team Mortario:

So far we have 6 people participating in the making of the mod, plus the testers (2):

  • Alex/Klugamerik - story writer, character biography writer.
  • Cakeman - scripting, mapping;
  • Folk Blues - voice acting.
  • Jan "Jengster" Olav - sound artist.
  • meathead - support mapper.
  • Scottz - assistant.
  • Varsity - support mapper.
  • AtomicToast; Tidis - beta testers.

Open positions:

If you think you could help out with the mod, either PM me or post below in the comment section. I could use the help of people who know and are willing to do the following:

  • concept artists to draw various concepts (characters, environment, puzzles);
  • scripting / coding / programming and general knowledge in modding (preferably HL2);
  • 5; 3 testers - we won't accept people who just post first, we will need a steady group of testers when we conduct the group mod tests which will last a few days;
  • support mapper - if you are really experienced in Hammer, you can apply to be a support mapper who acts when the map work gets too hard and to brush up already done maps.

- Thanks for reading.

So far:

- work on the maps has been going well, check the images section for some screenshots of the motel which is being made. We could still use additional help on the maps, just to get them done in a faster period of time. Also a new addition to the team - meathead - welcome aboard.
- sounds and music - awesome. Jengster has put in a lot of work on creating decent and atmospheric music and sound effects for the Motel. Check out a small sample that I've put up.
- voice acting - Folk has been doing the voice acting and made quite a progress. You'll hear from him in the final release.
- trailer - we are going to make a trailer really soon, thanks to Tribit and his 1337 video editing skillz dat killz.
- the story - we got a new story writer + character bio writer. Welcome aboard Alex - Klugamerik.
- overall the mod - looking great, it is actually playable as a mod, trough the Steam games list and so far it has about 20 minutes of gameplay. We still have a lot of work ahead of us.

In this update:
- 3 new WIP pics of the motel.
- bit of music.
- mod status.

Thanks for reading, thanks for the support! Stay tuned.

Sounds promising, but the mapping needs a lot of work. It is very blocky and could use some props, decals, and more detailed brushwork.

obviously you do not know what a beta tester does, it has a vital part, it searches all the bugs and such,but you just want to play this mod for your own need.

Great looking mod. Hope this one actually goes somewhere.
I'm not going to apply for a mapper, mainly because i'm not good enough at horror.
I'd love to test it though. Cake would recommend me! :D
