Newbie ? A sergean is a veteran ... An apotecary too and a techmarines ... just don't talk about it ... And for tyranid, their's everywhere and xenos, so there no reason that they don't attack them.
Ugh, can we please stop talking about the goddamn smurfs or other goddamn Chapters
There was a vote, and Salamanders won
Nothing you can do about it
So quit bitching
On a lighter note, yes, they do indeed look badass
Garfusa2 Agreed, I've played Tyranids for 10 years and they attack whoever they damn well please :D Hive fleets worm their way through star systems to attack whichever planet the hive mind wants too, not whoever's closest to the edge. They slipped right past Baal to get to Ultramar when they first showed up.
ugh and btw no one the chapters/legions send 4 sm to tyranid infected planet (excluding deathwatch) they prefer purgin' teams of terminators and 1 apot in this case we must get a fire drake squad not normal marines
Perhaps the planet has something important to the Salamander chapter, perhaps it is a personal mission undertaken by a particularly vengeful company of Salamanders, perhaps the attacked planet is too near important Salamander worlds to be ignored, perhaps the Salamanders have crashed on this planet and were unprepared for the tyranids, or perhaps we wanted to make a Tyranid vs. Space marine mod and the chapter everybody voted on turned out to be Salamanders! :D Explain it how you want, it's happening.
Perhaps, it's just a mining station, spotted by a patrol fleet of Salamander, so they send out a commando squad ...? Like in some book of the black library
since, as you said it yourself, this is a work in-progress, let me criticize it =P, might help ya =)
Techmarine looks perfect from what i can tell, good helmet, cult-mechanicus on his shoulder...good, good
Apothecary needs alittle work, the general apothecary tends to always have a lamp on his backpack, as well as predominantly white armor, Apothecarys look so generic to each other, i sometimes get mine mixed up when i put my armies together, and have to pay close attention to their shoulder markings and colors
an idea i would like to throw to ya guys is switch the MK7 power armor of the devastator to the MK 6 or MK 8
would give the devastator an even more knowledgeable profile
I'm happy with all of them except the apothecary because, as you said, they don't really have a lot to set them apart. I one of my concept sketches I gave him the special backpack, but you can't really tell in this picture.
I agree with you. But there is a little thing I want to add. In my opinion the Techmarine should have a red amour and only some parts should be in colours of the Salamanders (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Techmarine).
If the colours of the Techmarine and the Apothecary will be changed it would be perfect.
Here, in the album of chompster, you can see that the space marines don't have the full armor red, just some element, like in official screen : Games-workshop.com
this looks very sweet! in case u needed a few references heres a link to my album with Salamander pics of apothecary, devastator, tactical and a sergeant Img837.imageshack.us
from the FoK mod, they did a really good job at representing what they should look like. not trying to say "MAKE THEM LOOK LIKE THIS!" not at all.. just a few references that could help out. best of luck with the mod!
o, and one thing, don't mean to keep picking at your art....but from the looks of it, none of these armors have the imperial eagle on their breastplate
MK 8, and MK7 (which is the most common armor) have an almost 99% chance of having the eagle on their breastplate...
MK6 which is still used often however, almost never does, so unless these marines are mixing and matching, or you have a reason for adding a chapter emblem instead
I've got a ton of reference miniatures and books on hand, and yes, I intentionally tried to veer away from the armor with eagle emblems. I wanted to give them the chapter emblems and also make their armor a little more customized, unique to them rather than ordinary marines.
That actualy have a sense in my opinion, every salamanders member can custumize and forge parts of their armours so you can use a bit more imagination than in most of the loyalists chapters.
the tyranids are attempting to get to the astronomican on earth, if they need reinforcements, they will attack planets, otherwise they will leave most planets in their path alone
in response to why the salamanders are fighting them*
thinking that armageddon is way too far from the earth and the route of main hives and orc population that's not sth that a hive mind will choose btw is there any ig batts on armageddon? ( right now ) not on great battles of arma.
In reply for all who don't know why they attack this planet there's : Wh40k.lexicanum.com
Where you can see that they smith, so they maybe found a mighty weapon, or a plan for a weapon or a vehicule so they send out a commando squad of the best to retrieve it.
And, as you can see in organisation, they have devastator veteran squad, so it's a full veteran squad.
If you don't like my proposal. i don't even just force someone to do it ;) it's just an idea
I would like to see types of mission like in alien swarm, what means "hack the door" for techmarine or "retrieve the geneseed" for apothecary, that would be awasome gameplay when apothecary is getting back the geneseed of fallen hero while heavy bolter guy is defending him with techmarine near repairing stationary defence gun and their commander taking down the "tuff guy" by his power sword. Just my vision :) that showed up when i saw this picture.
OMG! This is really awesome!
I want to see this ingame next ;)
Nice looks really good
Those guys look bad ***.
srry didn't mean to give u a bad karma
Epic. Death and destruction in the name of the Emperor.
sending newbie guys to infected plantes... hmm i prefer sending smurfs but.. still looks badass

(buried)
if i was bitchin' i'll cry like other guys all i'm saying that they need a hell of a story for making salamenders attacking tyranid..
Dont need a story as to why "they attacked them" Only "Why theyre attacking the salamanders"
Simple.
Garfusa2 Agreed, I've played Tyranids for 10 years and they attack whoever they damn well please :D Hive fleets worm their way through star systems to attack whichever planet the hive mind wants too, not whoever's closest to the edge. Hmm, complaining about story and canon complications and whatnot in 40k of all places
Okay
Very nice work. :)

Thanks for the feedback everybody :)
its hard to tell from this picture....but is the devastator marine in MK 8 armor? he has the "neck guard" thing it seems....
yeah, I gave him the armor with the neck guard, makes him look a little bigger and more heavily armored.
I agree with you. But there is a little thing I want to add. In my opinion the Techmarine should have a red amour and only some parts should be in colours of the Salamanders (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Techmarine).

some color variation between each class member is being planned. Sucks that it's too late for me to go back and change it in the picture :(

err.. sorry meant Techmarine instead of tactical^^

Armageddon is at the top of Segmentum Solar, most hive fleets come from Segmentum Ultima, which is east of segmentum solar
in order for any tyranids to really have any reason to go to armageddon, they would have to come from the north (Segmentum Obscurus)
and yes, there is still fighting on armageddon
only salamenders ? or there are ig units not evacuated?
Dude
Give them Mk1 "Thunder" armor for the lulz
Space Roman Centurion helmets for the win
