Interesting as always, since i feel most mods give their bigger ships a far too long range which disrupts the balance really.
Other mods don't really vary their ship's range enough so you don't have as much interesting ship roles as this mod ;)

Yeah, that's pretty much what I hate, just the same ship over and over again each time with slightly higher shields/weapons and armor. Well f all of that.

The sith have the 14000 Harrower, high damage close range battleship or the 10000 Sadow, a extremely long range battleship that does little damage, but can shoot over about half the map, so when you face of them those, it's a prime target anyway, because if you don't get to it, while it doesn't do a lot of damage, it'll still continue to shoot your **** untill you deal with it.

Either low damage extreme range, or high damage low range, that's your pick, both get a great garrison for defence (harrower about 1/5th more) and both are a huge waste of money if you **** with their tactical roles in battle.

Republic does it different, they have the 12000 credit Valor, high damage high range battleship, but only armed with 23 heavy turbolasers (unable to shoot fighters) and a small garrison, if you burn through your fighters with that thing bombers will completely pick it appart. There's the 9500 credit Arcus, that only has 4 heavy turbolasers, and a very large anti fighter laser armerment, very usefull vs a lot of fighters, but also 6 ion cannons (do 6 times the damage vs shields as heavy turbolaser, 18 times as much as a heavy laser cannon) only a few ships in the mod have ion cannons, very powerful. Also the Arcus has twice as much shields as both the harrower and the valor, A large damage spunge, and able to take down any shields, but it's not much use after that.

So everything has a counter and nothing can just destroy everything, that's the tactical side of the mod and I think it's pretty unique and well executed. But don't take my word for it as I'm the developer and therefor a little biast towards my own product ;)

Also, the Mandalorians get the 14000 Credit Kandosii, which has no garrison but is able to wreck every ship at any range in the game. It has got defence vs every ship, from bombers to capital (its super heavy conc missle launchers annihilate capitals) and the second stongest shields in the game (only the Arcus has stonger shields) Pretty overpowered untill you muster a stong enough fighter and bomber force to overwhelm the not very strong anti fighter defences, in that case you have a useless kandosii untill you find something it can fire at. Even with a large bomber force attacking it, it has so many hardpoints and so much health it'll still take atleast one or two minutes to take it down, if you still have your engines you can still wreck some frigates before you lose the ship.

The Harrower is very much a low range battleship. The 8 heavy turbolasers do a pretty good job of softening up any target, but it's true strength is in the 32 heavy laser cannons. Same role as the Leviathan, just much bigger, much meaner and much more powerful. Also with a much stronger garrison.
