Nuclear Dawn is a modification for Valve’s Source engine that combines visceral and violent First Person Shooter action with fast-paced Real Time Strategy in the aftermath of an apocalyptic war. You can choose the mission or lead the attack as a commander, marshalling resources and deploying weapons and equipment for your team to use.

You can storm a building as an assault trooper, cling to the shadows and rely on your active camouflage as a stealth, or unleash terrible firepower from a powered suit of exo-armor. You have the responsibility and the power to decide the outcome of every engagement. If your opponents are lucky there will be enough of them left to bury.

Although we have been around for a long time, this mod is still in active development, and the development team is breaking its collective back on getting this mod to you as soon as possible. Stay tuned !

Shiny Phong shaders in full effect on a Consortium Exo trooper

We've just updated our website ( Nuclear-dawn.net ) with in-game screenshots showing some new shaders we have recently applied to our player models. Support for Phong shading technology was recently added to the Source engine (it's used on the player helmets in DoD:S) and we immediately saw it could work wonders with our armoured player models. Below you can see the Consortium Exo with the Phong shaders creating a smooth and shiny effect on the rounded armour surfaces (more pics on our website). We will be releasing a video of these shaders to really show off the effect to our forum members on the ND website in due course.

The first installment of our new 'Focus' feature takes you through
the development timeline of the Avenger

In addition to this, we have also begun a new regular feature on our (newly revamped) forums which showcases a particular asset and allows our fans to follow its progression from the concept/design phase to its completion. We begin this feature with the conceptualisation of the LCM-7 Avenger assault rifle by se7en, and will end it some days later with some videos of the in-game animations. It should be an interesting read for any modders reading this, and will be joined by other Focus articles ranging from mapping to code.

Let's hope it doesn't combine the suck of all those mods either.

Yeah, sorry about that. Our concepts page is awaiting maintenance. Sadly only two people have permissions to change it and they've been hella busy recently. It is on their very long 'todo list'.

hey! why can't I browse concepts on your homepage? I like this mod and I think its very well-produced. I'd like to have a look at the screenshots, if that's possible.

Our lead coder and project lead just got a job at Digital Illusions CE (a.k.a. DICE - they make games) in Sweden so things have been a bit slow while he's been moving to a new country.

Oh god! It's dead isn't?! It's dead! I just know it! 80% completed, teasing us with screenshots, and then it dies! Oh who hast slain thee? Tell me so that I may smite their ruin!

be patient, they need time before release.
Or do u want an crappy version, that's almost impossible to play without running in to 1 or 2 bugs?

I should probably add that, despite a bit if a lacklustre release, INS are actually making great strides towards a massive improvement to their mod.
