Nuclear Dawn is a modification for Valve’s Source engine that combines visceral and violent First Person Shooter action with fast-paced Real Time Strategy in the aftermath of an apocalyptic war. You can choose the mission or lead the attack as a commander, marshalling resources and deploying weapons and equipment for your team to use.
You can storm a building as an assault trooper, cling to the shadows and rely on your active camouflage as a stealth, or unleash terrible firepower from a powered suit of exo-armor. You have the responsibility and the power to decide the outcome of every engagement. If your opponents are lucky there will be enough of them left to bury.
Although we have been around for a long time, this mod is still in active development, and the development team is breaking its collective back on getting this mod to you as soon as possible. Stay tuned !

The reception of Nuclear Dawn went down extremely well, with 15,000 unique visitors and 500 beta signups in the *first hour* alone. The forum community is alive and kicking with a ton of activity from some pretty crazy people, so make sure you check them out.
This weekend we finished another alpha playtest that we'd had to put off due to the madness brought about by the site launch! During this alpha we had a few industry level designers partake, hopeful in the aim that we'd interest them into building a level within our alpha>beta development process. If any of you are curious on the gameplay factor of Nuclear Dawn, well everyone who took part in the alpha left with a big grin on their face.
I guess we're obligated to provide you all with some screenshots from the session, Well, here are some that I took, or rather the few ones I managed to take while not taking some severe punishment courtesy of the rest of the dev team. I’m beginning to think my fellow team members are holding a grudge against me.
It’s probably worth mentioning that the level seen here is something RobertB threw together in less than a week. Its sole purpose is to test another new map layout for a new game mode we've implemented to test the core features of the FPS gameplay.
We're still looking for an animator and another coder to join the ranks of the team to hasten the arrival of the projects beta stages so if you're interested email contact(at)nuclear-dawn.net

i see where your coming from, and thats understandable. but you cant expect one other mod to do the same thing as that last mod you mentioned did. and now that i understand what your saying more, yea photoshopping a pic to tell the community that the contents of the pic is what to be expected in game is not really constructive, and takes time away from actual progress.
but there are exceptions, depending on the grade of time it took to put the pic. together. if its something that took a few minutes, and doesnt have to be polished and not exactly what youd expect from the final production, i find it acceptable. as long as it gives you the big picture, or a good idea of whats to come, yes i would accept that piece of work and comment on its flaws and its perks. but dont stop doing that stuff altogether, unless you have a good reason.
basically, i think they should still be able to do that kind of thing, if its a finalized idea, and the pic in question is just a slapped together bit to show you the main layout and to somewhat expect what you see now to be in the release. if they want to show you a final production pic, they should have what you see in final production. its all just a matter of timescale i suppose, that weilds the respect you give to them, in turn for what they do for you.
I think you miss-understood what I was meaning.
I was talking about the screenshots with photoshoped huds ( both player and commander views )
I dont consider it concept art if it was slaped ontop of a game screenshot and said to be whats in the game. Due to its not. If it was shown by itself and said this is the concept art of the ingame hud then it would be.
That is my problem.
Also stems from another mod I used to follow that did the same thing and ended up never releasing there mod and just going "poof" basicly and the site after several years just vanishing. They did simular things and thats part of the reason why I dont like it.
( Not going to mention the mod due to various reasons )
They need to post an in-game video, damn it!
I am really looking forward to playing this game. I mean just looking at the screen shots is enough reason to download and give it a try but when you read the new/features it makes it inevitable that you are gonna download this game as soon as you get the chance if you have HL2.
I don't doubt for one second that stuff is real, as a modder, I know what the Source engine is capable of and that DEFINITELY falls within the engines capabilities. Not having a hud isn't proof at all of a mods authenticity, it just means that they decided to focus first on cooking up models and maps. Heck, the mod I'm in, Trigun: Permanent Vacation, doesn't have a HUD either, all we have so far is pretty much weapons . But, I suppose if it'll make the idiots who think it's fake shut up, a video might be a good idea.
There's one simple way to settle this whole dispute. They need to post an in-game video. I mean, if they REALLY want to prove that it's real and that they have internal alpha games actually going on, I suggest they post an in-game video.
if your saying you shouldnt post anything that isnt actually done yet, wouldnt that mean this and many other mods on moddb shouldnt have been posted on here?
or if your saying its something being planned on, should that mean the devs shouldnt post concepts like they already did? that takes time away from the mod, as you said. so do renders.
i personally think mod teams should always post a positive idea of something to be added to a mod for community feedback, ESPECIALLY if theyre going to upload screens of WIP, concepts, renders and such. if everyone had an attitude like yours, we wouldnt have half the mods we do today.
btw, to the guys @ the mod team, i havent really been keeping up with the mod and its progress... ever. until now, i only get on moddb to check the modwatch(which you guys are on, btw.) but i checked it just now and found you guys uploaded a screen of the new assassin type guy... and it got my attention. so you guys now have support from me, and i want a beta soon lol.
gl with the project and dont rush it. better things come with patience.
You know of my comment That this looks to be a great mod and so forth.
And to be honest it dose. Assuming it is not fake.
But I have sat back and took a close look at the screenshots, and have noticed some things that seem off. Well more than a few things.
I hope its not what I am begining to think it might be. To be honest this if its not a fake. Will be a great mod when its out. Its just I am begining to wonder now due to a few things I have been noticing.
To be honest if you guys do NOT have a hud done then please dont post photoshoped screenshots. I would much rather see things for what its currently at and not some editing of a picture that WOULD take some time away from making the mod.
There is also one thing thats starting to bug me but I wont say anything for now.
As far as what crispy has said. It actualy IS missleading due to its not a screenshot of the actual hud. But of a photoshoped ingame pic, dose not really matter if its what you are GOING to do. Its the fact that it is not done yet. Just one of my complaints but besides the ones I do have it looks like this mod will be great if/when it comes out and I will deffinetly be playing it. And I also will deffinetly be the one in the Stealth suit due to I like getting up close and personal :)
Oh and please update the % complete on this page.
omg this mod looks sexy..
Waiting for the mod. :)
